The deload or backing off strategy never seems to pay dividends for me.
A deload always bleeds me -almost into a state of detraining.
Perhaps that is a statement of my GPP, my recovery abilities or even something at a deeper physiological level. But I am always struggling to find that ‘perfect balance’ or moderation of intensity and recovery to keep me moving forward.
Very interesting thread [/quote]
Well, my deload simply means I lift lighter with less sets. It doesn’t mean I didn’t do each rep with little effort. I did ALL 455x3 as fast as I can and with maximum effort. Maybe you should put more effort in your deload, or maybe you don’t need a deload coz you’re not as intense as I am on your regular training.
470x6. All the sets were extremely hard. I barely made it through my last 2 sets. I almost fell in the power cage, but I strained and got all the reps.
Woah, I forgot to post last week. It’s the work, I guess. Anyway, I upped my supplement dose and got 470x6 a bit easier last week. Today, I upped my supplement dose again and got through 475x7. I had to resort to rest pause every set.
Dang I keep forgetting to post. 2 days ago, 475x7 didn’t get easier. Earlier, it felt heavier, but I was able to finish the workout faster. I found that a little wierd.
I forgot to post. I’m sorry. Anyway, 480x8 for the past 2 workouts were the same. Each set, I’d do 5 reps and rest pause my way to 8 reps. However, I was able to finish faster on my workout earlier.
BTW, I’m also looking to deadlift my first 600. I’m excited. I’ll just deload and I’m all set. I’ll also try something different on my deload. Instead on going on a minimum supplement dosage, I’ll max out and load up for my 1RM attempts. After I get my new PRs, I’ll minimize the dosages.
I didn’t post for a while because I simply deloaded. 455x3 was very light for all 3 days. Next week, I aim for at least 545 on the squat, and hopefully, my first 600 on the deadlift.
