It was used in coal mining for blasting. As a previous poster mentioned it’s used hand in hand with TNT and I think it’s used as the detenator or charge(someone can verify this). Anyhow coal miners were losing rapid weight in short time and doctors pinpointed it to the DNP. They say it can cook you alive because it actually did. I read an article about one of the first users he might of even been the doctor who linked it to the weight loss. Anyway he abused it the autopsy showed that he literally cooked his internal organs. He was quoted saying

I think it has another side effect of turning the eye whites into a very dull yellow but don’t quote me on that.

As far as I know (and this story seems to vary a bit, bt you’ll get the general idea):
Workers in a factory where DNP was used (for whatever reason) were all losing a shitload of weight, and when enough went to the company doctor, this prompted an investigation into the chemicals they were working with, and blah blah blah - eventually someone figured out which one it was and how/why it was doing what it was.
The LDLo (lowest recorded lethal dose) is like (if I recall correctly) 4.3mgs/kg.
I’m thinking about making DNP the subject of my next (after the coming roundtable one I participated in) T-Nation article (autobiographical/historical- not “how to kll yourself in 1 easy step”).

I remember when muscle media 2000 warned about the dangers of dnp. I can’t remember who authored the article, it might have been Dan Duchaine. I seem to remember thinking he’s a nut if he is scared of DNP it must be really dangerous.

I read, years ago, that it also destroys the mitochondria. You might lose a lot of weight now (if you don’t die) but you’ll be truly fucked later on in life.

I’ve had guys at my gym offer me stuff like halodrol and superdrol and I’ve inquired about taking that stuff to Cy Wilson in fact and did not receive a response. I know I can Google and I did but I am not versed in all that scientific stuff and so I wanted simple, uncomplicated input from someone respectable.
I am glad to read you guys actually trying to help this dude and expressing genuine concern for his well being.
Those individuals that don’t know about all this stuff and attenpt to retreive info really need to be responded to when they inquire so major mistakes can be avoided. I still have the bubble packs of Halodrol and bottle of superdrol. Too chicken to take it blindly.

It was also used in the thirties as a weight loss medicine by a doctor who also prescribed it with t3. It was used for a year plus with no deaths or complications. I think the dosage used was 250mg EOD. As far as the eye thing, a small percentage can develop cataracts, that’s why certain anti-ox are prescribed. Never heard of anyone developing the yellow eye thing.
