leave it…keep your daughter off your lap while looking at porn dude, that’s just sick.
Anyway, it’s like 1/20th the size of the picture of the day or whatever, and that’s just as sexual, sometimes moreso because it’s bigger…there are sites you let your kid see and there are sites you don’t let your kid see…you’re the parent.

Now that you mention it would you mind changing your avatar? I sometimes log into T-Nation with my daughter on my lap and I find that offensive.
I admit that the Idealist in me has been a little too extreme. I admit that I have been vitriolic, caustic, and cold.
(Yeah, this could sound too wussy to some of you.
Pussy. J/K <:-)

I couldn’t agree with this more. This site allows HUGE freedom of speech. My boy can read almost fluently now, and recognizes swear words easily on the page. Since we try very hard not to swear around him, and he still chastises people when they do swear, I try not to let him see swear words in print. ( much, LOL ). He also comments on some of the scantily clad powerful images. I don’t want to offend the poor kid… ( don’t want him to be gay either, not that’s there’s anything wrong with that ) so I close the page if he’s in the room. I consider that my job.
If you censored this site any more than the extremely limited amount it is censored now, it wouldn’t be the same.
You’d have to start by removing the ass worship thread. Do you really want to do THAT?
How did society get so fucked up? We run from naked people but lets stop on the interstate and look for mass carnage when a 70mph wreck happens. Or lets only turn into a nascar race to watch some people get into a grisly crash.
Come on folks. Not proposing a nude society here but how offensive is it for your kids to recognize beauty and then appreciate it (appreciate doesn’t mean wacking off bozos)? Yes the woman in the avatar is hot, britney spears is hot and wears clothes that basically show as much. So why not ban britney? It is a hypocrytical freaking mess. Lets all go crazy that britney or christina or madonna show a boob or nipple. Come on, just teach your kids to appreciate the curvy bodies of all forms so they don’t get brainwashed into the “if I don’t look like barbee I’ll never be happy” crap that is so prevalent today.
Over protective parents are bad. I’ve got a load of shit for someone’s front porch if they say they aren’t. can’t tell you how many women I have dated over my years that have been sexually repressed because their parents treated sex like it was some taboo thing that never happened except when and only when they tried to have a kid. I used to date a woman that believed her parents only had sex 3 times to have their 3 kids, she refused to believe that someone would have sex for any other reason. Now that is fucked up.
How many kids do you have mr know it all? None I suspect.
Not one at the moment. However, I grew up with two teachers so the problems seen from “other people’s kids” has been a part of my life most of my life. Any rants you have as if no one can speak on the act of raising kids without owning kids is retarded.
The truth is, the picture of the woman in that photo is not sitting on a giant dick. She is not even turned to the front and I will bet you can’t even find a nipple or pubic hair in that pic at all, if I may be so blunt.
Therefore, you want to shield kids from seeing an artistic representation of a naked woman? Why? What damage does nudity itself do to a kid, Mr. Parent? Please inform us how nudity itself harms children and makes the world a horrible place.

Well prof before I had kids I thought I knew it all as well. But when you have children of your own your perspective changes. I don’t expect you (or any of the young guys who don’t have kids) to understand that. The time to talk about sex should not be dictated to you by a TV show or an add. It should be when your child is ready. And then time is set aside for that very thing.
When you have some kids you will get it-Until then keep trying.
I think we had this conversation about a year ago…
Truer words never spoken. It is the same argument I have with many about “porn”. Kids wouldn’t find a naked body offensive if they were never taught to find it offensive.
This is the type of foolish statement which proves you to be inexperienced in these matters.
It’s not that the are going to be “Offended.” That is actually pretty funny prof…(shaking head).
It has to do with control over what your kids see at a certain age. I know you don’t get it…
Again…have some kids and come back and talk to me.

If you want to control what your kids see, why would they be with you while viewing “testosterone magazine”? Should I not use the words “shit”, “fuck”, and “assrape” just in case your kids are watching?

I get what you are saying, but that’s not the point here. You are trying to insert a new argument into this post. The item originally being discussed was an avatar on T-Nation.com, formerly Testosterone.com. This is the same website that posts a scantily clad powerful image once a week; the same website where the editor-in-chief posts an article about his penis once every Friday.
Nobody is shoving this website into you or your children’s faces.

while looking at porn? Are you a freaking retard?
Since when did T-Nation turn into a porn site? I log on to look at training info. I don’t feel like answering questions about naked women when I do.
what a fool
I never said it was a porn site my friend…I just assumed that you sat there with your daughter on your lap and looked at porn…it was a joke anyway.
But anyway, the main point is why would you have your daughter sitting there looking at a site where, many people swear and all that stuff and there is a sexy half-naked picture half-way down the page of every page you click on?

Oh I get it now, thanks for your definition of porn.
Those are your standards. Some of us would like higher standards. I know that’s not easy for you to swallow being who and what you are.

After looking at some of your previous posts, I see that you’re not serious but are actually just looking for excuses to call people names…my fault for getting involved with your stupidity.

? My kids were not with me when I was looking at T-Nation.
But I will say that I’m sick and tired of all the “R” rated crap that has found it’s way into prime time and the the radio, newstand mags etc.
Almost anything is fine with me as long as it comes with some sort of rules attached. Things like time periods, ratings etc.
I have empathy for any man who is trying to shield his young child from crap like that.
I have 4 kids; 16 years old and under. I frequently watch TV/DVD’s with them and, while they watch the TV (“boob tube”), I surf this site. I have the good sense to keep my back to the wall when they are around. If one of them were to be on my lap, I’d stick to CrossFit or Dan John’s Get Up archives.
I like T-Nation because its blend of good training info, sexuality (which the mods do a great job of keeping semi-tasteful), and reasonably intelligent political/social discourse. Homogenizing the sexual aspect to satisfy those with more delicate sensibilities would make it a less desirable place, at least for me.

I can’t vote fairly - my eyesight is not good enough and I refuse to wear glasses.
Now, if you have a phone number of the young lady in the image, or better yet an address, I am prepared to conduct extensive research to test whether she’s truly suitable avatar material or not…
More seriously, I think it’s fine. My kids don’t frequent T-Nation; and as and when they do want to “explore” this kind of stuff (even without my approval), I’m afraid your avatar will be tame indeed compared with what else they will find in a click or two.
malonetd wrote:

Not really, it’s the same argument. I do plead guilty on trying to expand it however
And both of those things can be either blocked or avoided as you know what is coming. Someones avatar is simply THERE. Sort of like flipping the radio station and hearing Stern blurt out a word that is not suitable for a child.
Of course I don’t have that particular problem anymore as he is gone from the air waves and I don’t have satellite radio. That was a happy day
And that is the exact argument espoused by all liberals! Congrats you did it!
Your argument is that someone with a child can simply avoid this stuff. But as we can see one adult who thought he had everything blocked could not avoid seeing someone’s avatar SHOVED IN HIS FACE.
And when you drive down the street and see a billboard that should be rated “R” that too is SHOVED in a childs face.
And when you pass the newsstand and see an inappropriate cover that too is SHOVED in a childs face.
And when you are watching television and a commercial comes on which depicts a more adult themed program that too is SHOVED in a childs face.
And when you flip the radio station and had (past tense:) to listen to Stern, that too is SHOVED in a childs face.
Look, I have said it before: there is a time and place for everything. But those who don’t think that this society is sex (and violence) obsessed and that it can and has harmed children should really think twice!
