I have been looking at T-Nation at work since august when I started working there. I’m a football coach and help with the strength and conditioning program so it is even relevant to work. Now, just today, the filter at the school decides that T-Nation is full of “Adult content” and that it should be blocked. I’m also the only person in the school that even gets on that site. It pisses me off. So anyway I talked to the IT person at the school to see if she will unblock it for me. God I hope she does. Anyway I had to rant.

I’m not on there to look at the pictures. plus you can google worse than that. Besides, the pictures are moderated. They aren’t nekkid.

Edders, there is a vast difference between there being some pics on this site and coming to this site and gazing at pictures.
However, given that there is no nudity, I think you are strongly over reacting. Men and women, and the differences between them, are part of society.
This is visible throughout society, in school or out of school, ever day. It is normal and natural.
Heck, any summer day will show you more sexuality than you need to see.
Once again, of course, if a teacher was gazing at porn or otherwise exhibiting lewd behavior that would be a different story.

I feel your pain. I am in a similar circumstance. Coach, weight trainer, school teacher, ect. Occasionally I get blocked as well. It’s kind of random. Sometimes it lasts for a few minutes, sometimes it lasts for weeks. It has motivated me to save and purchase a computer for my home. It’s amazing to me how addictive this site is.
You can also just turn off the Powerful Images in your preferences

Well, maybe if they can make a special dispensation and allow screen sites on a case-by-case basis. Also, if you can get on T-Nation does that mean the rest of the school can [if anyone became aware of it]? The school might have a legitimate concern about teenagers looking at [awesome] pictures of half-naked women and perusing forums devoted to illegal activty [ie. the steroids forum] on school time.
As far as objectionable content through google goes, I would imagine that anyone can conduct any search on google, but that the filter would still block many websites when a person attempts to click on them.
Though it may be somewhat arbitrary and unfair, sometimes bright lines need to drawn out of necessity and because it's not practical or possible to evaluate on a case-by-case basis.

IT just allowed T-Nation through the filter. So now I can get on and look at the articles. As for making sure that I’m fired if I were looking at PI or something, I don’t really care because I’m not gonna be looking at it at work.
Since it’s work related, I see no reason why they shouldn’t unblock it, if only for you.
If they don’t and you try to bypass it, make sure it’s not grounds for suspension/termination. I know the usage policy where I work is quite clear about consequences for bypassing explicit blocks that have been put in place.
Most likely, they’re using one of those dumb automated filters and they’ll simply put T-Nation on the white list and you’ll be set to go.
