There were always rumors aboutt Wesley Snipes playing him. (I suppose that, for a while, he was the go-to black super-hero guy.) Not too much now.
It could be a great movie, though. T’Challa’s got all these different facets of his life to work with, plus cool locations, plus in the comics he had these 6’ tall supermodel bodyguards.
Casting wise, I’d go with Don Cheadle. (Okay, I know he’s not right for it; I’m just a huge Don Cheadle fan.) How about the guy who played Adabese from Oz, who’s on Lost now? He’s acually African, too. Maybe Djimon Honsou?
I think casting-wise, I would go with Micheal Jai White. He looks more like T’Challa in the comics, has the right build and is very athletic in his own right (trained martial artist). The guy who played Adabese and Djimon Honsou would be good in the movie, but not as T’Challa. Don Cheadle, nope. I am a huge Don Cheadle fan as well (I always felt the he was underrated for years), but I don’t think this would be the right role for him.
Ooh, I didn’t even think of that guy. In terms of looks, physique, etc: definitely. I just think the guy might lack the acting chops.

Well if we are talking about having acting chops, of course Denzel! His ability alone could pull it off. He would have to pump up a bit though.
