I’ve never quite understood why the topic of steroid usage should be so emotionally charged. Unnatural? Why? Because introducing more of substances (i.e. testosterone) that your body produces on its own anyway is unnatural? Then creatine use is every bit as unnatural. The only difference is in degree and not kind, with steroids having greater risks and greater payoffs.
The use of stuff like antibiotics for infections and those funky new synthetic carbohydrates for PWO should be considered even more unnatural, if we’re sticking to that logic.
Cheating? Why? Because taking steroids means you can sit back and watch the muscles grow? Crap, think of all the productive stuff Ronnie Coleman could have been doing instead of wasting his time training.
Illegal? That only goes for the USA. It’s also a moot point when you guys argue about health, unnatural-ness and cheating.
Health issues? I don’t see anyone getting that worked up over cigarettes, alcohol and wayward cars. If steroids are that bad, I guess we better hurry and tell the doctors who are using steroids to treat all sorts of diseases and for HRT.
Those same incompetent doctors who claimed that the big buff young guys who fell over dead were abusing painkillers, diuretics and recreational drugs when they actually all died from steroids. It’s all true, I read it in the tabloids.
I’ve also never understood why some people would read a couple of news articles with big, sciency sounding words and come charging into discussions like they have years of practical or research experience. If all you know about steroids and myostatin is what you read in the papers, you know jack shit.
