I’d like to see what @bigdave17 looks like, a 31 year old built like a collegiate athlete who doesn’t know how to count calories.
I think that’s just a tad too far. Someone can want to lose weight for their happiness without it necessarily being a psychological issue. Taking obesity and losing weight for health purposes out of the equation, I think the difference lies on whether your entire self worth is tied into a look or number on a scale. Does she need to lose weight, no. Is there anything wrong with her wanting to, no.
Where you’re right on, is with wanting to lose weight purely for someone else’s happiness. That should not be the determining factor.
If losing weight is truly her choice and things aren’t working with bigdave’s expertise, then she should seek out a legitimate coach. Bigdave can then step WAY back and just be there as a support. Though, from what I’ve read in this thread, I have a hard time believing it’s solely her choice or that bigdave would be capable of not being overbearing.

One other thing: the picture doesn’t look like a 5’10" 210 pound woman. Serena Williams is 5’9" and 165. No way she weights 45 lbs more than Serena.
If you told me she was 5’10" and showed me that picture, I’d guess she in the 170s. (so, problem solved. She just “lost” 40 lbs).

Running back/linebacker nonetheless. Aren’t they averaging upper 5’ to lower 6’-ish and 225-240 lbs? Something tells me 5’10 at 185 doesn’t quite translate to that look.
Maybe OP should get bigger so that there isn’t a physical inferiority complex compared to his fiancee?

The one engineer I used to work with did the Mars lander stuff. There’s all kinds of things happening there no one will even hear about for another 10 years.
