Some heavy shit
I play guitar/bass in a band with Joey Waters - heavy doom/sludge.
I play all instruments in another band I started recently - it’s faster stuff combined with sludge; no song longer than 60 seconds. Blast/sludge and get out.
Too many bands/influences to list.
Tombs would be a good start.

Hey Jim, do you listen to anything besides metal in your own time? I, after being a metal head for years, started listening to a lot of rap with basically death metal lyrics. Artists: brotha lynch hung and trizz mostly

Crippled Black Phoenix, Ulver, Left Lane Cruiser, Misfits/Samhain, Dax Riggs - stuff like that. Most of my time with music is playing and writing. I always think its boring to sit on the sidelines so I attempt, at least, to get in the game.
Playing music allows you to appreciate what you hear. And gives you some perspective - not unlike lifting and sports. When you DO, things open up. If anyone loves music, I encourage them to pick up an instrument. If you are half as obsessive as I am, it’s not too hard to learn.

That’s very true about an instrument providing perspective on music. We’re you ever in band in high school, or college? Whether, marching, orchestra, jazz band, concert band or anything of those likes?
Jim, whats at this point of your life more important for you. The sport or music? In terms of sport I don
t mean the work as a writer or a big man in the industry. I mean just going to the gym and do something for yourself.
Or are both a part of you?

What makes you think I was asking in order to get stronger from it? I was just curious. I know that music tastes don’t affect strength. I was purely asking out of curiosity. And I probably don’t listen to all of the same music as him.
