American Black Metal?
Agh, it’s just not the same.
Then again, I bet it’s better than the Afghani BM my buddy sent to me yesterday.
Now now, don’t tune them out just because they’re not from Norway. It’s generally accepted that Burzum made some incredible music, namely "Det Sm Engang Var and “Hvis Lyset Oss”. Wolves In The Throne Room have basically done what Burzum did. They sound like early Burzum, and you should give them a chance.
Never been much of a Burzum fan really.
When it comes to black metal, nobody ever will beat Emperor in my opinion. As well as bands like Keep of Kalessin, Enslaved, Cradle of Filth (kidding) and some Nargaroth. Varg is a terrible player, and my favourite stuff of his is the instrumental midi stuff he made in prison. What that has to do with anything, I don’t know.

American Black Metal = Epic Fail
I will agree the instrumental Burzum is where it’s at.
Anorexia Nervosa anyone?
You think so? Have you listen to Wolves… at all? I think they’re pretty impressive. So they’re not Immortal, but they’re not anywhere near as bad as Mayhem either. Don’t like Xasthur? I think American Black Metal is in it’s infancy. With time it will become much better.
Most of these have been mentioned but I’ll give ya my favorites.
Pantera- anything however Cowboys from hell and walk top the list.
Older Korn and angry Limp Bizkit.
Five finger death punch is climbing the list.
Slipknot- check for a song called snap, I’m at work and can’t youtube it, it’s freaking awesome!
Rammstein (sp)
Prong
Helmet
Tool
Prodigy
Kill switch
Some Motley Crue on those HIIT days
Did any of you see the program I’m speaking of? For that matter, how many of you actually witnessed the evac of Saigon either on TV or better yet, in person?
Yeah. I saw it.
All that Nam era stuff gives me bad flashbacks. My big brother was killed in DaNang before the evacuation.
I can really listen to anything except country and trance, but for working out its gotta be metal or something that rocks.
On May 9th I’m going to see these bands:
Megadeth with…
In Flames
Children of Bodom
High On Fire
Job For A Cowboy (who I actually can’t stand)
But none the less, the show will be kick ass!
Others I listen to to workout
Soilwork
Cadacross
Immortal Souls
Metallica (anything before 2000)
Tool
All That Remains
Killswitch Engage
As I Lay Dying
Disturbed
DragonForce
Opeth
Black Label Society
Black Sabbath
Kataklysm
Cannibal Corpse
Dark Tranquility

=NOT MUSIC THAT ROCKS AND OR ROLLS
Try listening to Himsa, Keep of Kalessin or Amon Amarth. And change your avatar, because Corey Taylor is a schmuck, along with the roadies that he calls “bandmates”
