Personally, you should GTFO with this crap.
1-3 rep range is for the ego, not for actually building anything. Most powerlifters i know, are doing speed, explosive work and rarely if ever do max reps or even doubles or triples. you just asking for injuries if you do it to often. every now and then its ok, to see where your at, strength wise.
Dude wtf do you mean 1-3 rep is for ego??? Have you never heard of westside barbell training methods? Or perhaps sheiko? Or simply prilepins tables? Honestly, powerlifting is defined by training in the 3ish rep range… 80% 5x3 is the best way to train IMO.

I forgot to add… TROLL!!!

rep range of 1-3 is worthless…the primary goal of powerlifting isn’t hypertrophy man. it’s training the central nervous system to carry heavy loads…speed work trains the central nervous system to apply maximum force to the bar no matter the weight, and hypertrophy is usually for assistance and some weak point training. take that to a bodybuilding thread that’s the most ridiculous claim ive heard on a forum in a while

lol. Haven’t read the westside thread have you? But let me ask, all these awesome powerlifters you know, what rep ranges to they do their speed work in?

troll
I’m familiar with westside, at least somewhat. The guys I know, do like 8 sets of 2 or 3 reps. but the weight isn’t heavy at all. they just work to explode the weight up as fast as possible. Personally, I just feel that doing real low reps like singles and doubles is just asking for injuries. Ive had enough of injuries. So, maybe if your main goal is pure powerlifting, then, maybe its worth while. But they also rotate exercises on their max rep exercises.
holy fuck! i’ve been doing it wrong?! what’s the damn point of powerlifting if you aren’t going to load up the bar to train? you make training harder then the meet itself. ever hear of anything called sport specific training? go read some more bullshit from people who have never lifted more then 2 plates per side.

trololololololololololol

to be back on subject, tears can happen whenever. be it high reps (holy shit!), or going maximal. you can prepare all you want, but if you make it through a career of lifting without tearing something, you either didn’t go hard enough, or sold your soul to the devil.

^ You didn’t hear? The powerlifters who squat 1,000+ pounds never squat over 500lbsx3 in training. It’s all in the explosiveness.
