Ok, leaning heavily towards Troll post on this whole thread… anyone else?
I don’t know. At one point in my life, I would have said that no one is stupid enough to think their muscles think “hmmm, you’re lifting a full trash can? That’s not a barbell/dumbbell, and you’re not doing 3x5 three times per week increasing by 5lbs each time. You’re obviously not intending for me to grow so I’m not going to”
But then the internet opened my eyes lol
Nah. There is some legitimacy to his observations, it’s just poorly worded. I’ve known some big fat hulks that never formally trained but used the mass moves mass principal unknowingly.
They’re nice to have around fitting up bigger steel. “hey fatty! C’mere and lean on this for a minute!” type stuff.
Well the Op keeps bring up individuals whom are sedentary so it has me wondering if he has a secondary agenda. That and he just joined the day he posted and has not said anything since .
Yup, he is lazy and wants to know if he can get results not doing much of anything.
Unless, by fitness model he means thin, lean, wiry I do not agree that one can put on a lot of muscle just through being physical i.e manual labor. Nobody is going to look like @The_Mighty_Stu from working on a farm. There is too much focused hypertrophy. How would one get a muscular chest?
I guess it depends on what people consider big, cut, ripped.
Could be… at least the vibe im picking up.
Well I dont know how this got started since the OP never mentioned what type of job his second friend was doing. I think guys just assume its a physical job…
I’ve never trained. Just woke up one day and the muscles were there. i probably ate some junk food before I went to bed the night before, that would explain it.
Not everyone realizes that many people that don’t train at all still like to thing of themselves as being muscular anyway, and even brag about (“I don’t need to lift, I’m just naturally big” etc.) To keep up this image, a lot of people try to slightly flex their arms continuously or otherwise posture themselves throughout the day in a way that will make them look bigger.
Trained or not, a flexed muscle looks bigger and rounder than a relaxed muscle, and someone walking around like this all day (or whenever someone is looking) will seem bigger and more “cut” than someone else that is not maintaining a flex.
Of course it goes without saying that food is the most important thing but it must be accompanied by proper workouts if you want to hit a certain weight and build muscles. But you have talked about people who are able to put on weight without setting their foot in the gym. It happens all right but you need to understand that they may be doing jobs that put their muscles to task. So that’s why the muscles are growing. Also, you have mentioned that they are putting on weight and increasing body fat. So it means that food can help one grow but to grow vascular and strong muscles you must train. If I were you, I would not try to reinvent the wheel. Don’t get confused. We already have programs that work so pick one and stick to it and I am sure you will get the results you are looking for.
