Muscle Atrophy from Neglect?

Wasn’t sure if this should go in beginners but would really like some help from an experienced
member.

Sparing the details, is it possible to completely neglect a muscle in the course of a few years, to the point where you do not use it at all or very little?

For example, if a person adjusted their posture to avoid using the left side of the body or arm could this result in the atrophy of certain muscles, such as the anterior detoild etc?

I feel as though this has happened to me and I don’t have any idea what to do about it. So far
I have seen two physios and a chiropractor but none have confirmed my worries. I have an oppointment with my gp but would really appreciate some 3rd party input. I can provide more info needed. thankyou

Yes, if you don’t use a muscle it will atrophy. Not really sure what else you are trying to figure out.

WTF?

Details!!

Yes!!! I have been serious ill for many months and not able to work out. My muscles have have gone through atrophy so much that people have noticed and told me like i don’t already know.

Yes it is possible. Depending on the level of atrophy, this may be something more serious than ‘disuse’. Are you having pain as well? If the atrophy is extremely assymetric, certainly one would start considering, some for of primary disorder of muscle (myopathy) versus loss of muscle innervation (neuropathy).
