Just wondering if anyone else is planning on doing/competing in the Murph challenge on Memorial Day. I’ve essentially been inadvertently training for it, so I signed up and am excited to see how I do.
For those unfamiliar:
Put on 20# vest
Run 1 mile
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 squats
Run 1 mile
I wanted to do it on Memorial Day but scheduling made me do it today.
I just finished it without the weight vest and partitioned and with strict pull-up/chin-up. Took ~1:02hr. For my own ego I’m going to say that I could have finished this in under an hour with optimal conditions; like if I didn’t have to walk an extra 1.5 minutes to and fro my home and the mile starting location and other superfluous factors to make myself feel better.
One day I will be strong and fit enough to attempt the actual challenge!
Really crushed it today. Took top time by a wide margin. Did it partitioned, in rounds of 10, 20, 30. I trained this way for months so not totally shocked but the competition definitely made my pace faster than when I’m my garage.
Got it done today in 55:xx (somewhere in the 30s I think) with a 21lb vest. No exact time because I just checked the clock on my stove before I left on the first run and after I came back from the second, then just guessed roughly how much time passed before it turned again.
Longer explanation in my log, but I hiked close to 14 miles yesterday and my right knee and lower legs are all jacked up, so I was leaning towards skipping this. One of my best friends is currently down south training for SOF and sent us a photo post Murph. I didn’t feel like I had much of an excuse to skip it after that.
I did it on Remembrance Day here in the UK. A hard workout.
I did everything at full weight, broke it down into 6/12/18 with the last round making up the difference. The 1 mile was though the village before and after.
