Mr. Hammond, the phones are working...

WOW GUYS!
First off, I feel so lucky that I have such a wonderful group of cyber people to come home to tear.

Secondly, as I told frozenkilt (does anyone else find it’s sometimes hard to talk seriously when people have such strange user names? Lol) I could barely sleep last night because all I could think about was my deadlift. I was literally just lying in bed (sweating, because for some reason I was so excited I was all flushed) thinking about my form OVER AND OVER and how THIS MUST BE FIXED, no matter what! I decided I am going to add light deadlifting to my squat days so I can get more practice at it (I am going to do the same with bench and MP days. Light bench on MP days etc…) AND I am also going to STOP dicking around with pointless exercises. GAH, sometimes my shit is still wayyy to bodybuildery. COmpound SHIT. I read all the big dude’s workout logs and I get jealous that there’s are so simple and beastly. I want mine simple and beastly!

Anyway, yeah, it’s weird. I have been deadlifting wrong my whole lifting life. 3 years ago deadlifting 45lbs I did it wrong, and one year ago pulling 275, I did it wrong. That’s a lot of reps with really wrong form. Correction is in the works!

nlmain: yeah, you are right! It’s not like I ever think I will even be at a place where I won’t “still be learning”. Louie simmons still gets coached on his squat and he’s 60. That’s how you stay awesome, i reckon’.

doveofwar: WOW! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Copy and paste and PRINT That shit off! That was super helpful/detailed, much appreciated.

herc: DAMMIT, now I really want Andy bolton to come into my gym to give demo’s. Now wouldn’t THAt be perfect?! I hate how all the big famous lifter people aren’t living in edmonton, heh. Thanks for the link.

Charlie: YEAH! I am glad I got over my fear of the video. Hopefully I can keep finding ways to film subtlely so I can continue to get quality feedback from all these here smart people.

Print: Thanks for that! You’re such a good doggy.

Okay OHP today! ANd I think I will deadlift with almost no weight to see what different shit feels like, hmm.

BYE FOR NOW

That’s a hella sexy midsection you have going on there.

And the deadlift? Yeah, you lift a bit like me. It goes against my natural inclination to bend my legs if I pick something off the floor. I’m working hard to rectify it but it’s hard going. That and years of hunching over a keyboard results in some hellacious roundbacking. It’s easier to break the habit if you do it young (I’m mid forties now so it’s an uphill battle).

Don’t badmouth bodybuildery too much. You’re young and indestructable right now. Eventually you find that stuff is what holds you together for the 20% of your workout that means anything

still your #1 fan~

WEEEEEEE  Check out those abs !!! BAMF. :)!!!

Its lame but cool to be so into something so much that it makes you think about it in the dead of night…not everyone is so lucky to have passion. for anything! it comes with all that " growing getting better , learning continually, getting your ass handed to you…" stuff too. But really, who else besides us weirdos do you know with a passion about anything? And a meaningful passion at that !

I of course don’t really need to tell you this, you’re awesome !! just want to put my piece in for you to continue posting vids !!!

Everyone here at least just wants to help–vibe off you, drool, get hyped up. MORE MORE MORE! HURRAY!!!

Nice work on the 2x bodyweight DL. I realize it was a couple of weeks ago but still… very nice.

Regarding form, I was taught to think about pulling back like your pulling a large root of of the ground. If I could do this every time I pulled, I’d be so awesome you wouldn’t believe it

When are you planning a meet? Please tell me you’re at least going to watch the CPU nationals in Calgary in April.

As a last note, don’t look into mirrors when you deadlift or when you squat. Turn away from them and pick a point that is out in front of you to focus on.

This guy said a lot of good things but this, in my opinion is the most important. It’s easy when you’re deadlifting. When you’re squatting, see if you can find a rack that you can switch the catches on so you face the room.

Aww brute, you always say the bestest stuff! And you’re 100% right! There are so many people I know who just like…work, and live life without any passion for anything. I can’t imagine how boring their days must be. Like, wtf do they think about all the time? HOW DO PEOPLE LIVE WITHOUT LIFTING?! Ha-ha, that is something I’ll never understand…

ouroboro: HEY LADY! I am so happy you’re in my log! I definetly do rely wayyy to much on mirrors. I am going to try to fix this STAT. I am not planning a meet right now. I would like to in the future though. I lost so much strength over these past 7 or so months from losing weight that I just feel so bummed about my numbers. I think that’s where all my impatience stems from. It’s because I techinally did this to myself, so I feel guilty or something for allowing it to happen. I WOULD love to watch nationals though!! It’s in April? I wonder if I can get my dad to take me down to at least catch one day (can’t afford a hotel or anything). Hmm, this is exciting!

Okay lifting news:

Nothing much to report. My MP sucked the other day, most likely because I was still dwelling on my stupid deadlift. I think next cycle I am taking weight off for my MP ← ARGG why does it feel like I am going backwards way more than I am going fowards?!

Anyway, tomorrow begins 5/3/1 week, so I am going to eeffing KILL IT, deload as much as I can stand, and then come back and give my next cycle all I’ve got baby!

Today i did some more weighted chin ups and NG pull ups. So +20lbs, 4 sets of 3. Maybe next time I’ll add the 25lb plate?! We shall see!

I did some weighted abs and uhh ohh these plate side bend thingies. First time doing those and they felt pretty damn good. I love it when trying new stuff works out.

Tomorrow I shall squat and it shall be grand.

Life news:
Went for a hike in the woods with my kid yesterday and it was uber fun. We were trying to get up this hill and I was like hanging on to a tree root and trying to pull him up while he was hanging onto a stick. Sure, it sounds strange that a mother would think this was a wonderul 5-year-old activity, but EFF crafts in the kitchen man, we’re explorers!

I guess that’s all for life news really. What a boring update.
My kids dad is out of jail. That saddens me, but none of you knew he was in jail so this is somewhat random and un detailed.
Oh well.

Ta ta for now!

Spock: This is the link to nationals with times and location etc. http://www.cpunationals.ca/ We won’t be competing this year due to time and money but nationals is always a great event. The meet director is very organized and will put on a great meet. It’s a nice opportunity to watch some of the best lifters in Canada.

btw, I wouldn’t feel too bummed about your numbers but I can see how you’d feel impatient. However, loss of size usually means loss of strength. That’s why guys are always trying to get bigger. I’m trying to fill out my weight class and am looking forward to getting stronger at the same time.

Why do I suddenly think you have some VERY interesting stories to tell?

And you really should have just slapped 40 or 50kg on the bar and done some form work on your deads, if only to get that thing out of your head. You’re giving that monkey all the piggie-back rides it wants right now

YAY AWESOME WORKOUT and my world is whole again! There’s just something about a damn fine squat day that makes everything alllll better.

5/3/1 Squats

115 x 5
125 x 3
135 x 7 <–GOD, did it ever feel good to be repping the big boy plates again! 7, for my one!
140 x 1
145 x 1 ← perfect, fast, deep, happy.
115 x 11

Okay that was great and all BUT… Boring but big deadlifts really stole the show. WHY? Because I had an “aha” moment. I was looking in the mirror at home adjusting my body position trying to get a feel for the RIGHT WAY deadlifts and it was kinda like, OooOOHHH, I think THIS is how it’s supposed to be. I can’t say it’s 100% (nor do I ever EXPECT that), but my god it’s gotta be way better than before. Felt good, felt kinda right man, felt kinda right…

okay so
135 x 10
135 x 10
135 x 10
135 x 10
135 x 10

yes I could have just written 135 x 10 for 5 sets, but this makes it look like I did more, Lol.
They were so EASY TOo! It was like speedy. This BBB stuff feels like conditioning work.

uhh back extensions with 10lb plate behind head. WHY U SO HARD??? 4 sets of 8

Leg extensions 4 sets of 8. I dunno how much weight, it’s like nothin’, but boy does it ever burn.

DONE!
Felt awesome, simple, effective and perfeccctooo! I really gotta keep reminding myself to keep shit simple. Simple makes me happy. My brain gets too many nut job ideas and then I get overwhelmed and start thinking irrationally. Gotta keep my manic to a minimum…

Life News:

I had a dream that my log was filled up and I needed to start a new one. HA! Can’t get much geekier than that.
Uhh what else…
I have one week left of my Deaf culture course and I feel very nostalgic. I don’t want it to end SOB, but a girl from the cultural society offered this volunteer position for helping out with ASL immersion week, so I am looking forward to diving right into that!

ALRIGHTY.
GOODDAY MY PEOPLE. CYBER HIGH FIVES FOR YOU ALL !

SLAP HANDS!!

Squat day fixes EVERYTHING!! Solid work. Keeping things simple is the hardest part, for real! Just gotta remember we’re lifting for a long term goal. Not to finish today’s workout. I have to remind myself of that all the time. I even write notes in my log yelling at myself to not to push sets when I’m not supposed to. Lol.

Ah! I feel like I could have written that whole post. Right from good squat day fixes all to reminding yourself to keep.it.simple!

I have a feeling that contained mania is where the sweet spot is.

p.s. i’m happy our 5/3/1 weeks are lining up because your posts always get me excited to go train.

can we chest bump too?

Awesome. Get some of these fancy new DLs on video and compare to your previous. You can post them here. Or not. You know what they are supposed to look like.

Outstanding work Spooky. You’re achieving monster goals. Happy for ya’.

Booyah. Live and die on performance in the gym. I know that one.

Nice work!

High five back atcha. Good fucking job.

Oh I am.so far behind! Boooo Hallowed!

Awesome PRs in here and weighted chins OMG wow!

I’ll take one of those high fives! Love those ah ha moments!

I thought you’d appreciate the sentiment behind this proposal, lol.
