hey if it slows down the masses from invading my state, keep posting pics

It is just crazy how many folks come here for vacation and then they won’t leave!

CFA is so expensive? Yeah no one can afford $4,000 over 3 years!!! You are such a fucking dumbass. Don’t post unless you’ve thought about CrewPierce.
I don’t blame him at all. All he asked for was some advice on moving to California, not everyone’s opinion about his life and decisions… it’s his life. Why do you all care so much if he’s dropping out and going to California?? Do you have to live with him… no. I don’t think some of you realize what assholes you sound like.

Ahh the SOA is the associates degree of the accounting world. Now I know why I never heard of it.

Wrong. Actuarial work is far different than accounting.

I would say if you want to be in the SOA than the CFA is out of your league.

Wrong again. Both are highly quantitative and my educational background is strong for both.

So you graduated at the top of your class yet you are looking at the SOA? You don’t even need a college degree to be an actuary.

Clearly, you don’t know what your talking about. I got the idea from several people I know that also graduate at the top.

This is generally an alright forum - you just attracted a weird “Politics and World Issues” crowd. And Crew must be having an off day. Seriously man, you’ve never heard of an actuary? Think business+math/stats major.

spent a lot of time in Pacifica. Nice easy commute into the city and close to SFO.
Beautiful area.

The OP is quitting law school and running home to mommy and daddy, probably to be unemployed and smoke dope in his parents’ basement.

“Oh, did the big bad professors give him too much homework? Did it interfere with the pot parties and running a train on some airhead 19 year old girl? Wow, those profs were just mean, huh?”

He belongs in California.

I’d rather live in Cali than that shit-hole OHIO any day. California leads the nation in so many areas. What’s wrong with expecting clean air and water for your state? Not everything that falls a bit “left” is all bad. I’d rather my neighbor be a mellow pot smoker than an asshole drunk. Nothing in Ohio comes close to San Diego or Huntington Beach. Arnold is doing a great job as well, so all your hippie paranoia is a bit… PARANOID.
Great post.

Where in Roseville you moving to?

Interesting, my girlfriend went to Sierra JC before transferring to Chico State. I had no idea they put out that kind of talent – I mean, I think my GF is hot and all, but I’m not from the area so I haven’t seen the rest of 'em. Good for NorCal!

I’ve met two girls that went to Chico State, and both were hot. They studied geography and PE though. I felt like Jeremy Piven in PCU.

No offense or anything.

Since the OP is out of here, I thought I’d take a stab at a summary of this thread. Here are the main points:

 1. California has a lot of hot chicks and almost all of them have good tans. Even the professional working girls look good. See, e.g., October Girl.

 2. It is expensive.

 3. There are a lot of Mexicans there, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Many of them are in CA illegally, and some of these are covered in tattoos and are proficient in the use of small arms and sharp implements. That is very, very bad.

 4. California has an interesting political climate that cannot be easily pinned down to conventional doctrine.

 5. Most of us don’t know shit about accounting and have no right to question why a dude might drop out of law school and move to Cali. You dicks.

 6. People from Utah and Ohio do not think very highly of California at all. No, sir.

That about covers it.

HAHA LMAO!

I would add that #3 say they make up the entire work force for doing labor intensive jobs that nobody else wants to do.

LOL EIC!

Here’s an observation:
People are always flocking to Cali for vacations and to live. I can’t think of one single person who ever said, “We’re saving up so we can have 2 weeks vacation in that paradise Ohio”.

Why would anyone want to live in Cali when you could live in Cleveland or Detroit? California is all glitz and no balls. Anyone can live in California. It takes balls to live in the 313 or in James’ Fucking Kingdom!!

Cool song, I’m gonna train legs to it today lol

Don’t try to explain yourself to someone as ignorant as him. He’s just jealous he’s stuck in shitty Ohio with no opportunity, while you have everything in front of you. I just moved to California from the midwest (Chicago) and I LOVE it here. Good luck with everything!

No opportunity? If only you knew…

Why’d you leave America and go to a place run by and for libs? Aren’t people fleeing the nanny-state and moving to surrounding American states? You DO know, I hope, that when all the productive people flee from somewhere, there’ll be no one around to fund your welfare check.

You come off as such a douche, HH. I hope for your sake you’re under 20 years old. That way, you’ll someday realize you’re a societal detriment for the same reasons the nutty Far-Lefters in SF are annoying: You think you’ve got it all figured out, and that anyone who isn’t on board with your view of how things should be is either too dumb to grasp what you grasp or is flat-out evil.

I’m a conservative living in the belly of the beast: San Francisco. And instead of moving out because I’m outnumbered (like a pussy like you would recommend), I end up IGNORING the Code Pink, Critical Mass, etc. jackasses who (like you) perefer fingerpointing and vague generalizations to civilized discussion and debate. Further, I actually ENJOY and INDULGE in civilized debate with other people – all hard-working PROFESSIONALS – who I occasionally (GOD FORBID!) don’t agree with on certain issues.

You’re making America a shittier place to be – just like the extremists on the Left. It’s not about politics, or viewpoints, or opinion. It’s about common courtesy and respect.
I’ll hop on this bandwagon. Besides questioning the OP when you know nothing about him (my dad dropped out of law school after one year, turned out alright, and I wish several of my friends would do the same - we have too many fucking lawyers in America), you feel the need to politicize every frigging thing. I’m more socially and politically conservative than the majority of people on this board, and probably even moreso verus Californians, and I’d love to live out there. With a little luck, might even be doing so in about two years time.

People who bring their politics into everything are some of the most boring and boorish people in the world, particularly when their politics are one-track and ignorant. As above, I really do hope you’re a teenager who’s read The Fountainhead one time too many, would explain a lot.

Hey don’t get the idea that you won’t find some conservatives in cali. The bay area and socal is full of them but central california is mostly ag and ranches. The bigger cities, however, outnumber the cencal. You don’t find too many liberals in cencal tho. lol

SOA:
What qualifications do you need to become an actuary?
In: Job Training and Career Qualifications

Answer
Actuaries earn professional designations based on the organization they belong to and their status in the professional exam system.

When an actuary has met certain professional educational standards by passing a series of exams, he or she achieves the designation of Associate. Actuaries who specialize in property and casualty practice receive the ACAS designation. It stands for Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society. Actuaries who practice in life, health, finance, investments or pensions receive the Associate of the Society of Actuaries, or ASA, designation.

After achieving the Associate designation, the actuary can elect to continue to take exams to achieve the highest designation, Fellow. Casualty actuaries are Fellows of the Casualty Actuarial Society or FCAS. Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, or FSA, is the designation achieved by life, health, pension, finance and investment actuaries.

Below are the different actuarial designations and organizations that grant them. Check out the actuarial alphabet.

FCAS Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society

ACAS Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society

FSA Fellow of the Society of Actuaries

ASA Associate of the Society of Actuaries

MAAA Member of the American Academy of Actuaries

MSPA Member of the American Society of Pension Actuaries

-I’m still going with an MBA is more useful or a Masters in Finance, Econ, or the like. You can get an MBA in Risk Mangement which would lead to a higher pay and more job opportunities. I have looked at jobs in Risk Mangement before as that was an area of finance that intersted me when I was in undergrad and all I ever saw was a need to have an MBA not actuary certificates.
