The best way to lose weight fast is to cut calories. The last time I went on an intense diet, I lost 16 pounds in a month. I was able to keep the weight off for 3 years or so as well, but that has to do with your eating and exercise habits afterward.

Is to start earlier.

Or better yet, don’t put yourself in the situation to need to lose fat fast.

Of course, but that often doesn’t transpire in reality.

I sure understand that, but preventive medicine always produces a better outcome than reactive medicine. One of the reasons that I highly oppose the general interpretation of ā€œbulkingā€ for achieving a better physique. I believe in always being at low enough body fat that you look good at the beach.

This is also my philosophy. If you stay away from processed sugars and junk foods, don’t overeat, and exercise regularly, there should be no reason to diet.

It’s hard to maintain perfectly and I never have, but I have had a flat stomach consistently for years now because I watch what I eat even a little bit. Avoiding excessive sugar seems to be most important.

They’ve basically boiled down the unholy trinity of junkfood to be sugar (usually processed, like HFCS), seed-oils and salt. You look at any hyperpalatable high calorie/low protein bomb out there and you’ll find those 3 things, because they’re all cheap and compel you to eat more WITHOUT satiating you, and you end up having to eat like 3000 calories of them in order to reach your protein threshold.

Staying away from those 3, in combination in particular, can go far.

Yep. No one would eat a stick of butter, or a cup of sugar, or a handful of salt on their own, but people will eat a tub of cake frosting as a snack.

I mean…

But yes: the very nature of pound cake demonstrates how amazing this stuff is when combined.

MMMM. On Graham crackers!

Adding chocolate sprinkles would be an acceptable breakfast in the Netherlands

On that note, can you confirm Hagelslag is real?

Just gonna restate this. An hour of cycling through any of the workouts mentioned above will be completely undone by eating a candy bar/bag of chips. From a CICO standpoint.

Yup. And in the ultimate irony, when we try to train HARDER to burn MORE calories, we transition from fat as a fuel source to sugar, and, in turn, the body overcompensates by pushing even HARDER on the sugar cravings to get us to replenish our depleted fuel source, which just perpetuates this cycle of training too hard and eating crappy foods to feel good again.

To say nothing of the cortisol spikes and highly catabolic nature of said training. It’s why exercise tends to be a poor tool for fat loss. It’s an EXCELLENT tool for macronutrient partitioning and hormonal/general health, but so misapplied.

I don’t know if it’s a myth or not. Pictures of this just keep showing up on my insta feed. What am I looking at for my algorhythms to produce this?

No idea but down under fairy bread is fed to kids at every birthday party. Nothing better than cheap white bread, butter and sprinkles (100’s and 1000’s if you in the UK)
