Most Memorable Movies

Some of my most memorable movies are:

  1. Man bites dog - a pseudo documentary that is a very, very dark comedy about a street thug set in France (subtitled). This movie has been banned in quite a few countries, but not in the good ole’ violence lovin U.S.

  2. Braveheart- this movie had everything a love story, action, and violence that brought out the Scottish in me and I’m hispanic. And the ending, man it had me shed a tear my wife looked over at me and asked “Are you crying”? I responded “Nah, just my allergies acting up, anybody got some claritin or something”.

  3. Requiem for a dream - This movie starts out slow but then hooks you in like drug pedaling dealer. This movie is about drug addiction and has the yummy Jennifer Connely nekkid, that alone makes it memorable.

These are just some movies off the top of my head that are memorable.

Good grief, someone else has seen that? It was a well made movie with an interesting message. But I must admit I am happy for every day that I’m not reminded of it (having seen the uncut version), as it did cost me some sleep.

Brrrrr,
Makkun

The most memorable movie I have ever seen in a movie theater was Star Wars Return of The Jedi. People would camp out outside the movie theaters for days (In Arizona) just to get to see the movie. And to this day it is the only movie that I have seen that EVERYONE in the movie theater stould up clapping at the end of the movie.

  1. Bloodsport just rocked
  2. Enter The Dragon
  3. Rockstar: I’m an 80’s heavy metal guy, plus this movie had top notch musicians: Pluss You can’t go wrong with Zakk Wylde, Nick Catanese, or Jeff Scott Soto. Jennifer Aniston looked so hot in this movie.
  4. The Stoned Age
  5. Porky’s
  6. Fast Times at Richmont High
  7. The Breakfast Club

Actually I like way too many movies and likes most of what was posted above.

One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest

One of the strangest movies I’ve ever seen was Suicide Club.

Snatch
Kill Bill Vol. 2
Blow
Fight Club
HEAT (amazin)
Pulp Fiction-some good lines in that one, like where Samuel Jackson is quoting that line from the bible about being the tyranny and trying to be the shepherd and all that…yea good stuff

For me it’s all about Usual Suspects and Rocky movies…I cry at then end of Usual suspects every single time, and after watching a Rocky movie, I always end up at the gym…

Most memorable:

Star Trek II… I was about 7 when I saw this on HBO. I ran to my room and cried for an hour. Spock!

The Changeling… This movie taught me how to watch scary movies: you must allow yourself to be scared.

Gummo… The movie wasn’t necessarily spectacular, but every now and then, for no apparent reason, I’ll have a flashback to some weird-ass scene in that movie.

Rocky… What? Rocky can’t lose!.. I learned that all you can do is give it your best.

I haven’t seen these listed yet-

Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels
The Thin Red Line
Bourne Identity

Here’s one for a future most memorable movie: Garden State

It was funny, entertaining, and most importantly, it moved me.
I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it for the past week.

Cheers

The Insider: A great flick about putting your ass on the line for what’s right.

Mine are just the usual of someone of my generation?.

Porn on the 4th of July
Driving Ms Daisy Crazy
Saving Ryan’s Privates
Emission Possible
Big Trouble in Little Vagina
Indepoondence Day
Butch Lesbian and the Lapdance Kid

?I could go on??

The Insider had good premise about a fascinating story but damn, that movie was totally monotonous.

Alright, here are the official “WHIT BASKIN BEST MOVIES OF ALL TIME!”: some have been mentioned…

COMEDY
Office Space has to be the funniest movie of all time.
Old School a close second
pee wees big adventure ha ha
The Princess Bride (“the CLIFFS of insanity!”)

ACTION/ADVENTURE
Predator you can’t get any more ‘testosterone’ than this movie. fact.
Rocky II best of the Rocky movies. (win… rocky… win…) (Rocky IV a close second). Worst- rocky III & rocky V.
Vision Quest (old friend used to say ‘whit-you’re on a vision quest…’ i’d ask him what he meant and he’d reply ‘just watch the movie-you’ll understand…’.

INSPRATIONAL/F.U.B.A.R./OTHER
the man who would be king
big trouble in little china am i the only person in the world who loves this movie?!
romper stomper (dont ask)
lords of flatbush (just for the scene when stallone talks about ‘flying’.
the great escape
goonies “im takin it back… im takin 'em ALL back…” The best single-line quote in movie history.
Back to the Future I 'Ronald Reagan?! The ACTOR?!"
The Shining what a ‘scary movie’ is SUPPOSED to be like–NOT just blood and guts and cut-'em-up/slasher crap.
Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory have all the umpaloompa songs memorized. actually a very psychologically intriguing movie when you watch it (closely) when older.
Jaws II

hmmm… know im missing some good ones…

I refuse to beleive I just went thru this entire list, and didn’t see a single person mention

SCARFACE

are you guys kidding? Maybe I overlooked one list, but I cant understand how this movie isnt one of the greadest of all time? It has arguibly the best monologue of all time (“Say goodnight to the bad guy” speech) one of the best actors of our time in pacino, one of the best at what he does in martin scoresse, and never before have people pulled for the bad guy like we did for tony montana and his little friend in the final shootout… this movie defines the term “classic” go around any college campus, any dvd collection, and you’ll find the scarface limited collector’s eddition in it’s shining silver and black

anyways…

  1. Saving private ryan, never before did I feel like i was in a battle until I had seen this movie.

  2. Shawshank redemption… Wow.

  3. The Last of the Mohicans. The soundtrack alone made this movie brilliant.

  4. Fight Club… brilliant, i had a hard time between this and mohicans in terms of rankings…

6)Finding Nemo. I dont care how big you are, how much you hack squat, how much protien powder you snort, or how big you claim your penis is, you know damn well you cried like a bitch when nemo got reunited with his dad, and you liked the damn move too. Besides, this little tale has gotten me laid solely on it’s “OMG he’s so cute he loves nemo” factor. Twice. Once with a squirt dole in the bed. “Squirt”. Ironic.

  1. Star Wars, they would have been much higher, if not for the prequels sucking my left nut.

  2. Godfather Series. No explaination needed.

  3. Band of brothers. I know its not a movie, I dont care, it’s an amazing series, and is seriously worth watching straight thru. In between Surge and GROW! breaks that is.

  4. Event Horizon. I made the mistake of watching this movie when I was in my early teens. Mistake. Big Bad Fucking Never Fucking Sleeping Again Mistake.

  5. Wild Things. Don’t even try arguing with me.

  6. Boondock Saints. This movie is so badass, it made me want to kill a cat and all evil doers in the world. Im not kidding. About the cat that is.

  7. American History X. Powerfull. Moving. Fucked Up. Brilliant. What more could you possibley want. Easily Norton’s best film.

  8. Pulp Fiction. Travolta’s last greaet hurrah, Jackson’s last great hurrah before mediocracy, and for a while, we all wanted to dance like they did.

  9. Office Space. Funny, but easily contains the funniest quote in any movie ever, “I don’t want to go to a federal pound me in the ass prison!”

  10. Finding Forrestor. Highly underrated and is a definte “must watch” movie. Give it a try, you’ll love it.

  11. Van Wilder. Simpley a shit your pants cuz your laughing so hard comedy.

  12. Matrix 1. Twas badass indeed.

  13. Kill Bills 1 and 2. The blood was bit excessive, but it was a great series. Although I wish the ending fight scene left alot to be desired.

  14. Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I hate fantasy. I hate annoying sidekicks that fuck up. I hate pointy ears. I hate anything that spawns a fucking cuztimizable card game.

More movies:
Death in Venice
In the Mouth of Madness
The Thing
The Vikings
Spartacus
The discreet charm of the bourgeoisie
The obscure object of desire
Belle de jour
Roman holiday
Deer hunter
Nosferatu
Postman always rings twice
The Night Porter
The Graduate
Midnight cowboy
Easy rider
Man called horse
Hair
Taxi Driver
From dusk till dawn

Scarface was definitely over looked and should have been mentioned earlier. Scorsese didn’t have anything to do with the movie. It was written by Oliver Stone and directed by Brian DePalma. I heard Scorsese receive credit for this film numerous times.
After recommendations from many of you I watched “Boondock Saints.” Great movie!

GOOD list. I’m liking that bunch.

One I haven’t seen listed yet: “Shallow Grave”. Ewan McGregor is excellent in that one, and it’s pretty fucked up from beginning to end.

Nobody has mentioned Airplane! or Monty Python and the Holy Grail?!

Airplane: the scene where Robert Stack is beating the crap out of the Hare Krishnas as he goes through the airport…“I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue.”…“Surely, you must be kidding.” “I’m not kidding and don’t call me Shirley.”…

Holy Grail: the taunting French…the Trojan Rabbit…“Bring out your dead!”…“She turned me into a newt!”…Sir Robin and his minstrel…Castle Anthrax…

Bring back any memories?
