Favourtie Movie?

Everyone went through their favourite scariest movie, and there’s a lot of politics going on now, so I thought we’d take a break and survey favourite movie all time. (I know Fight Club is going to win…)

Snatch is first, but Fight Club is a close second.

Empire of the Sun, The Rock, Saving Private Ryan…

Damn easy: Lawrence of Arabia. That will be, until the day I’m dead and worm feed, my favorite movie of all time. Second: Excalibur; Third, Raging Bull; Fourth, Near Dark; Fifth, Alien; Sixth through Ten is a toss up: Bullitt, RAN, La Femme Nikita and there’s a tie with Eat, Drink, Man, Woman and The Last Emperor.

That it’s rather difficult to pinpoint that “all time favorite”. I choose Lawrence of Arabia since it contains all the elements of great moviemaking: inspired cinamatography, great directing, outstanding acting by a legendary cast and a wonderful story.

But then, even with that, my taste could change due to how a movie affects me. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. One day, I could have on Fright Night, due to needing something quirky, fun and with a touch of horror in it. Another, Army of Darkness - or how about Galaxy Quest? Predator is great when I need to let out some frustration. I tell ya people, it's damn hard having over 100 movies in the ol' video collection and we have about 30-35 now in DVD. So, you see, you'll get about a list of at least 3-4 movies from everyone when asked "what's your favorite all-time?"

Dangerous Liasons is a definate number one. After that, it’s by catagory. Sci-Fi - Star Trek First Contact. Pseudo-kids - Labyrinth. Animated - Shrek and the Little Mermaid (hey, I’m a girl, what do you want? grin). Blow-em-up-and-shoot-em - All of the Lethal Weapons. Period - Braveheart and Gladiator. Funny - Top Secret. Comic book - Xmen

And since I doubt my list co-insides with anyone else's I'll stop here.

For me The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, but Jeremiah Johnson is great and also First Blood.

Well since this is favorite movie and I am entitled to my own opinion…Its like comparing apples to oranges, but I love a comedy and It’s a toss up, Caddyshack, Blazzing Saddles, or Christmas Vaction???

“Co-insides”, Michelle? No, that would be “coincides”. You are forgiven for your spelling discretion.

Favorite movie? Easy. The Cannonball Run. Smokey and the Bandit is a close second. If there was a Dukes of Hazzard movie I'd be all over that one too.

Top Secret, very nice!! Forgot all about that movie.

since im sure a lot of my favorites will be repeated ill toss out some ones that are cool to check out that arent quite As popular, a clockwork orange, bottlerocket, wall street, memento (for those that liked the movie i suggest you check out chuck palahniuks review of the movie which is on his website always good stuff from chuck), Pi, The Ice Storm and umm i guess thats it

Just one is too narrow, mine include Braveheart, the Shining, Gattaca, The Terminator, Chasing Amy

The Godfather, Casino, Caddyshack, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Full Metal Jacket.

Quiet Man.

Easy, Saving Private Ryan. I think this is the greatest movie ever made, plain and simple. I broke down in front of everyone as I walked out of that movie. Close second has to be Schindler’s List. Another one that drove me to tears. I have to hand it to Spielberg and his abilities. On a side note, it’s also cool that he is an alumnus of our Cal State Long Beach Chapter.

Shawshank Redemption. I don’t watch quite as often as some others, but once a year I pull it out pop it in and 2 hours later say, “damn, that’s still the best movie i’ve ever seen.”

Easy. “The Fountainhead” Gary Cooper in Ayn Rand’s own screenplay. The story is he couldn’t understand the speech in the courtroom scene, and just had to say it over and over, until he placed emphasis where it was required. Close second: “To have and have not” Bogart and Lauren Bacall in an adaptation of one of Hemingway’s best. First appearance of Bacall (at age 19)in a film, and she was absolutely smokin’. Shows you can be VERY sexy, and not show an inch of skin. Best action / sci-fi of all time has to be “Aliens”. Best comedy “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”. Best western: “The good the bad and the ugly”. Recent movies: Memento kicked ass, and I saw Minority Report a few days ago. Spielberg is a freakin genius – the entire movie is blue, and has an eerie, superrealistic sheen to it. Can you tell I am a movie nut?

This is rather difficult to answer, because there are movies that have effected me greatly that I think are great movies, and other movies that I really enjoy seeing over and over. I’d have to say that the ones that have effected me are Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, Braveheart, The Patriot. Gladiator is one that I like to watch a lot. Other good ones are October Sky, Pay it Forward, The Mighty, The Cure. These last two might be considered kids movies, but they’re all about what friendship really is, and any one who gets choked-up at all in movies would be best advised to keep the tissue handy.

It’s hard to pick an absolute favorite but among the top of the selection is…Fight Club (YEAH), Shawshank Redemption, Godfather Trilogy, Ronin, Gladiator, Dangerous Liasons, Snatch/Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (same damn movie after all), Basic Instinct, Heat, Dumb and Dumber, Diabolique. Favorite actors include Al Pacino, Kevin Spacey (I RULE!), Robert Deniro, Bruce Willis (granted he’s not really a “talented” actor but I love something about that man), Brad Pitt (only because he’s soooo pretty), Tom Hanks, Morgan Freeman.

I can’t believe I forgot Black Hawk Down, also Dangerous Liasons, Braveheart is just a given,I just saw Sexy Beast and it is great, and I wouldn’t say it is a favorite exactly but as far as movies I have been really affected by it is way up there. That movie gave me chills for days. Oh yeah, and The Usual Suspects.
