Most Memorable Movies

The Shawshank Redemption. ‘get busy livin, or get busy dyin’
Apocalypse Now ‘the horror, the horror…’
2001: A Space Odyssey ‘what are you doing, Dave’
Pumping Iron ‘Louie used to stay up all night reading the muscle books’
Conan the Barbarian ‘Crush your enemies, see them driven before you, hear the lamentations of their women’.

Ok ,here’s a few of mine…

  1. Stand By Me “i never had friends like i did when i was 10 years old, man does anyone?”

  2. Dead Poet’s Society- i can relate to so many characters in that movie.

  3. Fight Club- i will never tire of this flick!

  4. Rounders “if you can’t find the sucker in a poker game in the first few minutes, guess what? youre the sucker”

  5. Unforgiven_ “we all have it comin kid”

I like the list of actors not seen in bad films.

I always classify Denzel Washington in that sense. He isn’t in a bad movie.

If you’re talking most memorable, it has to be ‘Requiem for a Dream’.

Johnny got his gun
Apocalypse now
Clockwork orange
Shining
According to Pereira
For a fistfull of dollars
For a few dollars more
The Good, the Ugly, the Bad
Gladiator
King Kong (1933)
Frankestein junior
Kickboxer
Hard to kill
Missing in action
Conan
Red Sonia

Dude… The Last Samurai, it spoke to me more so than Braveheart, maybe that’s because I am Asian. =]

I think it brought to the big screens the lifestyle of the samurai from back in the days. Honor, courage, integrity, compassion, the list goes on. Remember the scene where Tom Cruise was captured and witnessed the beheading of a samurai and he construed that as being cruel? Well, in actuality that was a sign of compassion, the beheaded samurai just committed seppuku where he takes a dagger and slice his stomach from left to right and that results in a slow and painful death. Out of mercy, the other samurai beheaded him to spare him the suffering.

Anyway, I love that movie.

Also, check out Last Score, that’s a great movie, Edward Norton did such an amazing job acting. (Not my favorite but definitely an awesome movie.)

Other than that, I have always been a fan of Terminator 2, that movie was way ahead of its time…

More:

  • What Dreams May Come
  • The Sand Lot

And Bad Denzel Washington movies:

  • The Seige
  • Training Day

Anything by Quentin: Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill 1 & 2, NBK. The guy’s a genius.

I also enjoyed Fight Club, Memento and The Usual Suspect, Swordfish, Last Man Standing w/Bruce Willis.

There are so many, but let’s give it a try:

  1. Muriel’s Wedding
Easily misunderstood as a chick-flick, it shows how someone get can his/her act together and take life into his/her own hands. And it’s pretty funny.

  2. Fight Club
Pissed off men beating each other into submission. What do we need more?

  3. Snatch
Funny British men beating each other into submission. Great!

  4. The Long Kiss Goodnight
Geena Davis beating men… you get the picture. Finally a real female action hero.

  5. Strange Days
Angela Basset with loads of muscle doing the beating. Good plot, too.

  6. Ghost Dog
Live by the Code. Die by the Code. One ultimate T-Man movie.

  7. Zelig
    The ultimate non-T-Man movie.

And off course anything that has Jay and Silent Bob: Clerks, Dogma, Jay & Silent Book Strike Back…

  • The Seige
  • Training Day[/quote]

I guess everyone has an opinion. I liked both of those and have probably seen The Seige 8 times. It probably wouldn’t have even been released had it been made post-9/11.

Didn’t like Training Day, but I thought the Siege was pretty dramatic - and in hindsight realistic.

Wow, there’s a lot! Okay, let’s see:

Princess Bride: Great sword fights and comedy even though it’s a “kissing movie” - “Anybody want a peanut?”

The Crow: Undead vengeance! Need I saw more? - “They’re all dead, they just don’t know it yet.”

Spirited Away: Probably one of the best looking anime ever, Miyazaki is a true artist. My wife loves the soot balls!

The Blues Brothers: Hilarious with the best car chase in cinema history. NOt to mention fine music. - “I want four fried chickens and a Coke.”

Perfect Blue: After you watch this anime, you’ll wonder why your skull hurts. It’s because you’ve been mindf*cked!

Millenium Actress: A bizarre and beautiful look at a retired actress’ life. A lot cooler than it sounds!

Fist of Legend: Probably the best Jet Li film, no effects, just kicking ass.

Hellsing: A 13 episode anime filled with cool visuals and excellent vampire violence! - “I highly recommend pissing yourself followed by a course of praying to your impotent god.”

The Lord of the Rings: I don’t think I need to explain why this is on the list.

Monster: Man, an intense movie. I loved the use of music in it, too. Ricci needs more films where she makes out with other women!

I know there’s more, but my brain isn’t working now.

Blade the reason X-Men, Spiderman, and the Hulk have been hits
Batman the original with Jack Palance(a true T-Man)
Do you see a pattern in my picks???
