Most Intimidating Athlete

Not a fan of golf and I think Woods is kind of a jerk but he certainly is intimidating to his competition.

That statement renders anything you say on this site again as worthless.

You obviously do not have a grasp on what Tiger has accomplished in his career this far.

You’re assuming the person who could not see your carefully chosen words knows what a “strawman” is…

PGA - dont take this personally but you cannot in a MILLION years describe tiger woods as intimidating. He is WORLD CLASS and when on top form awesome, but this isnt intimidating.
Intimidation and what we find intimidating varies from person to person but losing at golf is not even close.
My votes go with a young tyson, fedor and Jonah lomu at his peak

I guess the question is from what aspect are they intimidating? You better bet your ass Tiger is intimidating to his competitors I also believe he is intimidating to the regular Joe he may meet. I mean fuck he is Tiger Woods for crying out loud. Tiger may not be intimidating to someone who doesnt give a damn who he is but I am willing to bet his competitors don’t feel that way.

A jerk? WTH?!? I think he’s one of the few athletes that someone cannot say that about.

I reckon Tiger Woods is a good choice. As far as sports go the people who dominate a sport are often the most intimidating to their opponents. And as far as domination goes Tiger sometimes dominates like no other sportsman i’ve ever seen. So i bet his opponents are pretty intimidated when they step on the tee with him.

However, sportmen who dominate in a contact sport such as boxing or mma are probably even more intimidating, simply cos the opponent knows that not only are they probably gona lose…they may get f’d up in the process. So Tyson at his peak was maybe as intimidating as it got

“FOR SHIZZLE!”

and jack the “manassa mauler” dempsey was just a badass.

“I can’t sing and I can’t dance, but I can kick any man’s ass.” Jack Dempsey

Even in his elderly age he knocked out a couple of thugs that were tryin to rob him, broke ones jaw and the others nose.
Man, everyone forgets about the Masassa Mauler. That motherfucker was one of the toughest sons of bitches that’s lived I think.

“Dempsey was five inches shorter and 58 pounds lighter than the 6-foot-6, 245-pound champion, Jess Willard. But on July 4, 1919, under the broiling sun in Toledo, Ohio, Dempsey broke Willard’s jaw with one of his first punches, a devastating left hook. He knocked him down seven times in the first round and walloped him for two more rounds. Besides the broken jaw, Willard had four teeth missing, his eyes were closed, his nose was smashed and two ribs were cracked when he didn’t come out for the fourth round.”

And to say that Tiger Woods is intimidating in any capacity is completely ridiculous. He’s a damn golfer.

Tiger Woods intimidating? Uh no…Maybe his checkbook. I’m in awe of his golfing abilities but that’s it. I think those Japanese ping pong players have more skill. I think anybody that can hit a 95 mph fastball over the wall has more skill. (well maybe not that last one.) Golfing is not a sport. I believe there has to be interaction or physical contact to make an activity a sport. Golf, to me is no more than throwing darts. Well, throwing darts from a hundred feet away. Mike Tyson when he was with Custamoto was a nightmare. His speed was frightening. When he fought Douglas he was out of shape and took the fight as a joke. Just my .02.

p.s. I love golf, but if you think anybody that plays golf is “intimidating” "To make timid; fill with fear, ha ha ha ha.
A 95 mile per hour fastball is easier to hit over the wall. Physics, man.

As for your postscrip, you haven’t a clue.

No doubt Dempsey was a bad Mofo. However his day and more modern boxing is night and day. There was more boxing skill involved in latter day boxing. Fighting in Dempsey’s day was about strength, speed and toughness and guts.

And if you’re telling me Tiger Woods is more intimidating than Mike Tyson…

If the poker players count, then I change my vote to Mark Lonnie Scott Jr. If that guy didn’t beat you at the table, you just know he’s gonna rag-doll you, and stuff.

As for Tiger, sure he plays golf, but I seem to remember reading somewhere that he is an avid lifter, as well. He has over a 300lb bench. Oh- and in his sport everyone is “intimidated” before they face him. He is in their heads and it knocks them off of their game. Isn’t that what the definition of intimidation is?

I understand what people are getting at wrt 'physical" intimidation, but don’t forget cerebral intimidation. Sure he isn’t going to injure you like Fedor or Karelin, but he changes his competition and changes his sport as much, if not more, than they do.

Intimidating: adj : discouraging through fear [syn: daunting

to add to the prior definition of “to make timid”, much like Tiger makes his competition timid, thus not on top of their game.

Sure, Fedor would kick his ass, but can Fedor put it within 5 feet from 200yds?

That’s not true. Dempsey was a brawler, so that was his style. Gene Tunney, however, was a boxer, and many still say the best technical boxer ever.

All boxing forever has been about strength, speed, toughness and guts.

He is an arrogant lawsuit happy jerk.

I have not heard any ever say he was a decent guy.

He is always portrayed as a jerk in the media from his dealings with his fans, his caddy etc.

i don’t understand …why would you say tyson when he’s clearly shown himself to be a loser? he couldn’t win when he should have, douglas, and then holyfield stepped up in weight and completely schooled him. tyson was tested and he didn’t pass.
Because, like I said, this is about the most INTIMIDATING athlete, not the best.

Who has he sued? I hope you’re not referring to the fake photos of his wife during the Ryder cup. He hasnt sued for that. You fault him for coming out and defending his wife?

The fans love him, thats why the PGA tour is playing ungodly money.

I have never seen him potrayed as a jerk. When he’s between the ropes dont fuck with him, thats his job, simple as that. I’ve seen him numerous times. You really dont know what he goes through on a daily basis at tournaments. Its ridiculous.

He just opened the Tiger Woods Learning Center (school) in California. He does an incredible amount for kids. More than any other athlete that I have been alive for.

Me thinks you are reading the wrong articles or something.

i see your point and agree. but i think i’d be a little more fearful of foreman. with tyson they always had hope …if you could get through 2 rounds. with foreman jeez-s! … it’s not like he’s even punching. he’s coming after you swinging clubs. how big are his hands ? abandon all hope ye who enter here.

He sued the boat company that made his yacht for advertising that they made his yacht.

He is notorious for blowing off the fans.

He acts like a jerk.

You have spouted absurdities, sir. I think that Japanese ping pong players (why you singled out Japanese players is beyond me) have more skill at ping pong, but clearly, they don’t have more skill at golf or baseball or powerlifting, etc than the elite athletes in those disciplines.

I think I also detected that you believe it is easy to hit a 95 mph fastball over a fence. I assume here you mean a major league outfield fence. Anyone who makes such a statement has likely never even hit a 50 mph fastball any appreciable distance.

I suggest you put your protective helmet back on and run along as I’m sure there is a short school bus missing a child somewhere in your vicinity.
