There are a few Sarah McLaughlin songs that are contenders.
But for me I think the one that’s always tough to top in this category is “In My Life” by the Beatles.
Honorable mention also goes to Ray LaMontagne for “Trouble.”

Definitely “In My Life” by the Beatles. I also like “Wild World” and “The First Cut is the Deepest” by Cat Stevens, “Mother” by Pink Floyd, “Yellow Ledbetter” by Pearl Jam, and “Iris” by the Goo Goo Dolls.
Maybe not a conventional “song”, but certainly one of the most emotionally uplfting and beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard. It gives me great peace:
Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis by Ralph Vaughan Williams:
The Youtube video evokes some of the spirit of the piece, and reminds us of the restorative power of nature.
Damici, I also have to give a big vote for kd lang’s interpretation of Cohen’s “Hallelujah”, especially this live telecast:
I forgot to add “Redemption Song” by Bob Marley, Sinead O’Connors cover of “Nothing Compares 2 U,” “Nutshell” by Alice in Chains, and “Mayonnaise” by the Smashing Pumpkins.
This song by Jack Savoretti is one of my all time fav’s. Anybody who has ever overdone it with drink or drugs will definitely appreciate the lyrics and what a fcuking voice…
Angel’s Son by SEVENDUST(but I think it’s a cover song.)
This is a great song! It’s from the tribute album for the leader singer of Snot after he died. I had the album back in the day and there are a lot of different artists and cool songs on it.
I remember I would tune into the top 10 countdown on my local rock station so I could hear this song before I finally go the cd. Thanks for posting it.
ya, wasn’t the lead singer shot in a club or something crazy like that?
I believe that you’re thinking of Dimebag Darrel, the guitarist from Damageplan, and formerly of Pantera. He was shot, along with a number of other people in a club, 4 years ago. Some nutty fan was pissed because he wanted Pantera to get back together. What a POS.

To my knowledge, he was shot because the loony thought dime had stolen his music and got rich off of it.
A Prayer, Madelaine Peyroux
Etta James, At last
Frankie Valli, Too good to be true
Patsy Cline, I fall to pieces
Roy Orbison, Crying
Power of Love, Frankie Goes to Hollywood
Mull OF Kintyre, Paul McCartney
