Ellipticals, tradmills, WTF??? You don’t need that in your gym!! IF people want to run, tell them to run outside around ur gym wearing “T-Nation Gym” shirts with ur gyms “phone #”. (when its nice out) -That way they advertise the GYM FOR YA!!!. Don’t forget, they have to sign in to use the shirts, if they tear it, they pay it.

-However if the weather is bad, then you can let them run around inside on an indoor track that runs around the perimetry of your gym.

Still… The only cardio equipment I see that you should have a Rowers.

IF someone wants to do Steady State Cardio, give them a nice cup of STFU and have them read a few T-Nation or Crossfit articles on Complexes, and HIIT.

Also, don’t forget that ur selling the best products on the market. AND that you will have an Exclusivity Contract, giving you competitive pricing.

my2cents…

Yeah man, ellipticals are bad for you. Really.

I mean, they’re not any easier on your joints than running, especially if you’re well over 200 pounds. And really, you can’t even do HIIT or any other cool acronym super-genius scientist-sounding name exercise on them, either.

Totally worthless.

I know, i just had em because i read about them in the thread and i though “why not?”

I think Mister T. was being sarcastic.
(I hope)

Valid point about the Ellipticals…

However, the way I see it, if the person has a hard time running then that person should WALK. Then, progressively, start running.

Now, if a person has a hard time walking due to an accident or injury, then maybe that person should go to Rehab-Center and get taken care by a specialist. OR if the person has a hard time walking because he/she is too fat, then maybe he/she should go to those hospitals that take care of the morbidly obese.

I would also like to point out something. This type of T-Nation gym we are talking about has a NITCH MARKET. Not all people will want to go to a gym that has no machines, has strict rules on the use of the Squat Racks, where there are a lot of big/cut/strong members, where the music is hard and heavy, where you are told to read articles, where there are no TVs with E!_News on, where there is white chalk everywhere, etc…

Don’t forget that…

Personally, I wouldn’t have a gym with no machines, and the rules of the power racks and squat racks wouldn’t be strict, just common courtesy for those who need to use it for what they’re designed for.

Plus, nobody would be required to read any articles. Info could be available for those who seek it, but it’s not going to be shoved down their throats.

Imagine me, telling Professor X that he has to read the latest Waterbury or CT article in order to train in my gym.

The loud music alone would deter the average soccer mom, or mid-life-crisis guy from wanting to train there.

Well that clears up things… plus it widens ur market

However I still think that having an indoor track running around the perimetry of the gym will, allow you buy LESS treadmills. Thus decreasing ur investment, gym upkeep costs.

Yea, I like the idea of an indoor track. I would need a lot of space though. There’s one gym locally that has one, and I think it’s about 1/8 mile. It feels like you’re constantly turning when you’re running on it.

Maybe even an outdoor track, and a large ramp that goes over it for people to walk into the gym on. That way the track could go around the building, and it would be a unique look. They could come in on the second floor, and access the track through the 1st floor.

That would be a sweet looking gym man, I never though of it that way.
