Hey guys,
What’s your take on pre and post morning cardio, both HIT and LSD?
I searched the site for some info but I couldn’t get much or maybe I missed what I needed, there are dozens of threads about nutrition around cardio session…
Thanks in advance!
Not really worth stressing about. If you want to have something to eat, then do. If not, don’t.
Conventional wisdom dictates you shouldn’t do HIT fasted, but if you are eating shortly after I doubt there’d be any harm.

TNX!
Protein or amino acids before early morning cardio to keep from cannibalizing your muscle tissue in my opinion and I’m assuming you’re using it to attempt to trim down.

not saying you’re wrong mate, but I’m just not convinced it’s absolutely necessary.
Realistically, how much muscle loss could there really be with a half hour or so cardio session? Obviously if the dude’s running marathons or whatever it’d be a different story, but providing the cardio session’s a reasonable length and he’s eating properly over the course of the day, I doubt there’s too much to worry about.
Better safe than sorry. What’s the risk following my suggested approach? None. Your suggested approach is the only one with potential risk.

Potential insulin spike from the leucine in the BCAAs blunting fat loss, but again, it’s probably not anything significant
Insulin spike without carbs and while in a deficit of calories would protect muscle loss not blunt fat loss. Theres a reason most traditional wisdom exists. Agree to disagree.

Actually it’s not my main goal, I just need to better my aerobic capacity, I’ll enlist in July. I’m not interested in any significant weight loss/gain, I’m just starting to pay more attention to body composition and adding lean muscle while preferably loose some fat.
If you want to increase your aerobic capacity then I’d add carbs & protein before the session otherwise the weak link/limiting factor won’t be your conditioning but your body’s fuel so to speak and you’ll fatigue due to nutrition and not your current aerobic capacity.
