I don’t know if PRCalDude has posted this story already, but it caught my eye and turned my stomach.
A Saudi judge has refused to annul the marriage of a 47-year-old man and an 8-year-old girl, despite the pleas of the girl’s mother. The father basically sold the girl to pay off his debts, after obtaining the old dude’s promise that he would wait to have sex with the girl until she hits puberty. (Uh huh. Suuuuure he will.)
Aisha was seven when Muhammad, already in his fifties, married her, and the marriage was supposedly consummated when she was nine. So it can be said that the 47-year-old is emulating the Prophet. This, supposedly, makes it all right.
Let this thread serve as evidence to counter PRC’s claim that I always defend and never condemn the actions of Muslims, or Islam in general.
Well, I hereby state that the judge’s decision, the father’s actions, the culture that permits them, and the religious precedent used to justify them, are all indefensible, and I roundly condemn them.
I don’t believe that any god worth worshipping would condone the tearing to pieces of a little girl’s hymen by the penis of a man six times her age, and that anyone who believes otherwise is dreadfully mistaken in his belief.
I think that Sheikh Habib Al-Habib (the judge), Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh (the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia, who decreed that ten years old is plenty old enough for a girl to marry), are despicable human beings, and that every Muslim who subscribes to their perverted Wahhabi venom is guilty of terminal cancer of the soul.
And I think that curtseying in front of the sweaty fat rulers of these vermicious jackals, kissing their rings, and prancing around holding hands with them in the Rose Garden, is disgusting behavior unbecoming of any American, let alone the President of the United States.
And as for PRCalDude, I hope he accepts this condemnation in the spirit it was intended, even if it isn’t quite up to his standards.
