More Movies You've Watched This Week

Harry potter was pretty good.

Captain America; corny as hell. I guess after watching X men I was expecting the same style, but the way that it was made was slightly dissapointing

Alright, so I’ve got all of the following movies lined up in my Netflix thing. Have any of you guys seen any of these and were just blown away by how good they were? If so, which ones in this list are the real heavyweights, the quill?

The Man Who Knew Too Much?
Following
Restrepo
The Baader Meinhof Complex
The Fighter
The Basketball Diaries
Red Road
I’m Still Here
Killer’s Kiss
The Boston Strangler
5 Steps to Danger
The Battle of Algiers
Rampage
Cul-de-Sac
The Thin Blue Line
Man With the Golden Arm

Thanks in advance. That’s not the name of a movie, that’s me thanking you guys. Okay, thanks.
Following is excellent. Probably the best micro budget movie with a cast of total unknowns I’ve seen. Like Memento, there are two cuts: one “in sequence” (which gives the plot away) and one “out of sequence” (which is the official version).

Just watched Hobo with a Shotgun … not impressed at all … I usually like those Grindhouse flicks … Machete was decent…

I also watched The Mechanic. I never saw the Bronson one (kind of want to see it now), but I thoroughly enjoyed it. A little predictable, but very entertaining … maybe because I’ve liked Statham since Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch.

FUCK!

Just watched this and have to say it was a hellafast 2 hours and 20 mins. Brutal, beautiful and utterly bleak all in the same film.

And yes - that is Old Boy himself. Fuckin enjoy! ;)
Okay Stern watched this this weekend. Not bad not bad at all a lot more graphic than I expected. I think the scene when he was looking for the “tracking device” in the john was the worst.

Also watched King’s Speech … really interesting and good movie … I gave it two thumbs up

X2

Jeffrey Rush is such a great actor.

Hah aye the toilet scene was rank indeed. But a man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do =P

It reminds me of a film I watched this weekend called Super with Rainn Wilson. Not quite on par with the sheer brilliance that was Kick Ass, but enjoyable all the same if a bit more toned down in the way of crazy violence. Not to say this film doesn’t have it’s fair share of fun violence and gore - it’s just a little more brutal and less flashy. I’ll not explain what it has in common with I Saw The Devil, you’ll just have to watch it and see.

An enjoyable piece of work!

Oh and Ellen Page as Boltie is hilarious!

I disagree!

It’s Geoffrey Rush! But I agree with everything else about this post  some truly fantastic dialogue and acting.

Since we’re on this theme, RocknRolla, Guy Ritchie is a fantastic director.

Watched Lincoln Lawyer, liked it, would watch it again. Will want to read the book now.

Unknown is okay, started well, didn’t think it progressed that well, but not bad.

I am Number Four, surprisingly not bad, not great but watchable.

All on DVD, sorry I’m behind the times. Last movie we watched was HP DH2.

just watched I Saw the Devil.

decent movie, a bit long, but good

I just saw “Buried” starring Ryan Reynolds.

"While on a job in Iraq, civilian contractor Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds) is attacked and kidnapped, then awakens to find himself buried alive in the middle of the desert with nothing but a lighter, a candle, a cell phone and a knife. "

This film was excellent!!!

That’s a Korean thriller for you. At least they make sense unlike Japanese horror.

I’ll put it here again. I watched Stakeland. Depressing movie. Not enough action in it for me, but definitely an attempt to be realistic in the take on what could actually happen if our world ended even in spite of the vamps. I would recommend it just because of the “zombie-vamp” angle, but it definitely not one of those you watch over and over.

I personally may never watch again after this one simply because it isn’t a fun movie at all.

I like Underworld. though dark, it is stylized and has enough action to not drag along for the sake of being sad.

The story needed a joke or two.

I went on a Tom Hardy binge lately. I watched Bronson the other night. A very different film. Kind of weird, but I liked it. Hardy does a very good job in this film. Just watch out it shows a lot of his junk.

I also watched Warrior. I thought the film was excellent. Hardy, Nolte, and the guy who played Brenden were all excellent. It’s a pretty emotional film and it’s more about MMA.

After seeing these two films i’m really excited to see Hardy in the new Batman flick.

I just saw The Debt

Helen Mirren gets some seriously fun roles!

I watched Rubber. Or rather, I survived Rubber. It’s a movie about a psychic car tire roaming the desert. A car tire with psychic powers. It’s a tire from a car… and it has psychokinetic abilities.

The whole film is basically an ode to the MacGuffin and the suspension of disbelief. This is the actual opening scene:

That I sat through the 80 minutes afterwards is a only testament to my infrequent bouts of sheer laziness.

Re-watched Big Trouble in Little China after I discovered it on Instant Netflix. Movie. Does. Not. Get. Old.

Finally saw the original Assault on Precinct 13. Not terrible, considering how dated it really is. The remake is legitimately a better film on all fronts, but this didn’t feel like a total waste.

Blood Creek with Henry “Man of Steel” Cavill and Dominic Purcell was a pretty good action-y supernatural flick directed by Joel Schumacher. I haven’t seen Cavill in anything else, but he did a good job alternating between being tough, scared, the lead, and the sidekick.

The first season of Louis C.K.'s Louie (from FX, not his Lucky Louie show from HBO), is on Instant, so I’ll throw that on every now and then. He’s a funny dude.

^ BTILC is my most watched movie of all time! You’re absolutely right it does not get old (and neither does Kim Cattrell … bow chikka bow wow)

Also, I recently watched Louie on Netflix too … I would have to say I enjoyed the episodes a lot more the second time around having watched them when they originally aired. Also, season 2 of Louie is funnier/better than the first … but that’s not saying the first isn’t funny. It is.

The Roommate- rottentomatoes had this at 4% critic rating and like 30% audience.

wasn’t good, but didn’t think it was awful. Cliche, but at least I didn’t want to turn it off.

Ok…won’t be watching Rubber.

Why?

No reason.
