Good god
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing

Monsters vs Aliens, this movie sucks!
I thought it was ok.

The Incredibles- never seen it before last night. Pretty good- “woman where is my SUPER SUIT!” “WHY DO YOU NEED TO KNOW”

Jurassic Park.

Nothing like dinosaurs to speed up surgery recovery.

I watched “The Contract” last night with Morgan Freeman and John Cusack.
I had never even heard of it until I saw it in a preview before another movie.

It was pretty decent - definitely an interesting plot, could’ve been a lot better though.
Worth watching.

Just watched Spirit - just ok, Scarlett and Eva in particular was looking good, but I prefer Sin City.

Also watched Push - kind of a slow build up and not enough of mutant power usage, but ok as well.

“Ganja Queen”

Harrowing documentary covering the utter failing of the Indonesian judicial system in trying and convicting a beautiful young Australian woman of marijuana possession. She’s currently wasting away for 20 years in a Balinese prison.

I watched Bruno yesterday. Maybe I went in with really high expectations due to Borat, but I didn’t find the gags in this one nearly as funny until the last 20 minutes.

Spoilers Below
The last 20 minutes seemed good, but really the only seen that was really as clever as the scenes in Borat was the scene at the swingers party, involving a near sex scene with a swinger that involved some (I’m assuming playful on her part) whipping. If Borat was about showing using a xenophobic, ignorant, foreign character to show how hateful and ignorant Western people could be (more or less, I’m sure that could be worded better), then Bruno only really did the equivalent of that in this scene, showing abnormal sexual practices that straight people engaged in.

End Spoilers

If he had done more gags uncovering bizarre sexual practices of straight people, the movie could have had a more meaningful a message a la Borat. However, I’m assuming if he did this the movie wouldn’t have been released with the rating it had, and less people would’ve been able to watch. It was probably to difficult a concept for a Borat style movie, but overall it was worth watching. There were still some funny moments in the film.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince - Well done, typically great Harry Potter movie. Kinda weird to see them all grown up now, still entertaining.

Night of the Living Dead - Ok don’t laugh but I couldn’t sleep. Nothing else on and I am always game for a zombie flick. This one sucked. Slow, stupid, bad acting, not worth watching.

Smokey and the Bandit - I haven’t seen this movie since I was a kid, and I still liked it. Racing to bootleg beer for a load of cash with limited time with cops chasing you just sounds like fun, unless you get caught.

Sleepwalking- Charlize Theron was great, as always. She’s been on a roll in my book since North Country.

The Governess- Kind of random but I like movies set in the 18/19th century. The movie didn’t seem like much as first but I liked the plot. The end threw me for a loop.

Pineapple express- I started watching it then I realized I didn’t have the patience to sit through that mess.

Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon, if you can find it. Kind of an indie/low budget thing, but still a good movie. Makes you wonder how it would have been had it had better writers and cast(not to mention director). The premise of the movie is that Friday the 13th, Nightmare, and Halloween all really happened, and this guy Leslie Vernon is preparing to be the next big killer. First two-thirds or so is shot documentary style, with this grad school crew following him around for their student project. After that it changes, but I don’t want to spoil the whole thing. If you do Netflix, you can watch it Instantly on there.(how I watched it yesterday)

just finished watching Clerks, man it was funny as hell.

saw harry potter and the half blood prince.

also, after learning of a Boondock Saints sequel, I decided to refresh myself and watched that again.

I watched the wrestler last night and liked it but im not a fan of seeing people self destruct. It was a great movie but im allways left with kind of a sick feeling anytime I see someone have an oppurtunity to turn there life around and they dont and it becomes there end.

Yes I’m the same makes me want to turn the bloody thing off.

I watched Transformers 2 last night and I have to say that it sucks. I have never seen a movie this hectic that tried to satisfy every imaginable scenario a movie could have. Looking forward to Funny People ( Funny People - Rotten Tomatoes )

Push - Decent movie where they fell short of pushing this concept to its fullest potential. Luckily, I think they could redeem themselves in a sequel. Dakota Fanning did a good job as usual and Djimon Hounsou got a perfect role but they still didn’t flesh him out enough. This needed better writers but it was still watchable.
Agreed. It could’ve been more polished but I thought this spin on the whole superhero concept was better than Hancock or Wanted, and waaaaay better than Jumper.

I saw the Half Blood Prince last week, and that was decent. However, like the last two it falls flat in the end. They could do such a better job building up the drama, but for some reason the filmmakers don’t do it. The Prisoner of Azkaban is still the best HP movie.

The more I think about it, the more I realize they took the concept that Stephen King came up with for Fire Starter and tried to expand on it (not plagiarism, but the idea of the government projects leading to the existence of these types). If they have any sense they won’t kill off Djimon Hounsou. He was the most interesting character (short of Dakota’s mom) in the movie.

Clerks gets my vote. All Kevin Smith movies are great. Chasing Amy is one of my favorites as well.

Movies I watched this week…
The Mist - What a stupid ending. So many questions left unanswered: What every happened to the black neighbor? Did he survive? What made the mist go away? What happened to the monsters?

Memento - Great movie. I had seen bits and pieces of it when it first came out on DVD years ago, but watched it again this week. Amazing ending, makes you want to go back and watch the movie in reverse. Really liked this one.

Funny People - Saw this one last night. I’m a huge apatow guy and was very dissapointed that i didn’t like this one. Too much of a tweener between being a comedy/drama. Too many lame dick jokes and very poor character development.

Pineapple Express: I kinda sorta liked it…had some funny parts.

Burn After Reading: I fell asleep. I didn’t think the film worked on any level. It was marketed as a comedy, but it wasn’t funny. Maybe I would have liked it better if I didn’t think it was supposed to be funny. She Say said she thought it was great. Maybe if I hadn’t missed 20 minutes of it sleeping I would’ve liked it more.

Terminator Salvation: Saw this again…still don’t like it very much…must not be that bad though as I’ve actually sat thru it about 4 times now.

Watchmen: I’m about half way through. I was watching it with my 3 sons ages 9, 12 and 14…all 3 of us get up without saying a word and walk away from the screen when the sex scences start…kinda funny…I like it so far, but it is llllllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng.
