Big millies OP. Keep rolling with those chins.

Nuthin’ shuts up the cardio bunnies faster than a set of chinups.

chinups? Add weight, it’ll work your abs better. That is a direct quote from some ‘youngster’ while I was doing chins one day. I kid you not.

Shoulders have been neglected lately and it showed. Disappointed with the money set but we’ll get it next time.

If anyone is interested, I’ve posted a request on the Tech Support Forum for the powers that be to consider creating a new forum for folks looking for HRT help. I figure over time as HRT for men becomes more mainstream, the over 35 lifter forum will become the landing page for everyone doing google searches and getting pointed here. I have nothing against HRT or those who need it, I just feel they would be better served with a more focused area on the forum. I’ve always considered this a training forum for older lifters, but I could be wrong. If you support this viewpoint or have other opinions, please let the mods know by responding in the tech support forum. Forums - T Nation - The World's Trusted Community for Elite Fitness

Not everyone reads my log, so feel free to post the link in your own for max exposure.[/quote]

I and others have asked for the same thing over the years. No luck so far - but perhaps you’ll have the karma juice to make it happen.

Thats a bummer. Yes is good, No is OK, Maybe or no answer sucks and is bad business.
In any case, if you have an opinion please take a moment and respond to the tech support thread.

Very happy with the Money set deads. Hit my 1RM goal and haven’t pulled 315 in a couple years since hurting the back. I think I’m over the hump.

Nice pulling, and I agree about teh HRT thread but I’ve tried it before as well.

Great news about the deads. Glad to see you’re over the ‘hump’. 405 is on the horizon.

I agree with this 100%.

Thanks all, it’s a great feeling to get past some plateaus and I’ve been at it long enough to know when happens.

As for the new category request. Forums - T Nation - The World's Trusted Community for Elite Fitness there isn’t any response yet and I’ll continue bumping it. I’d encourage you to add your two cents to the above link…

Ran out of time. Late night with too much beer and a great movie! Shelter Island is awesome.

295x5…WOW!! Thats some strong benching!! Good work, OP

Thanks JW - I’ve been looking forward to getting those 35’s on the bar for reps. Now I can look forward to 3 plates a side for reps sometime this summer. I’ve got to remind myself to enjoy these times when the numbers are going up because they don’t last long.

Wow 295x5 is awesome. You’re making some great progress on all the lifts.

Awesome work OP!

Good looking benches and squats.

Thanks Eco, mrodock and U42 - I’m a happy camper.

C3/W3 5/3/1 Week

Squat Day

Warmup: Foam roll, stretch, Barx20, 135x10, 185x5

Squats: 225x5, 255x3, 285x7 (PR), 315x2

BBB: 5 sets 155x10

Leg Curls:
120x10, 150x10, 180x10

Standing Calf Raises: Paused top/bottom
285x10, 320x10, 355x10

I was a little concerned this morning because my Erectors were still a little tight and sore from last Friday’s deadlift session. Foam roller did the trick.

I had one of the fitness instructors check my depth on squats. Gave her specific instructions that the top of the knee must be at or above the hip break line. Had those stripie adidas pants on to help see the line. She red lighted my first rep then every rep afterwards was below depth.

I was shooting for 5 reps on the money set, but once I focused on pushing the knees out hard, the remaining reps came up relatively easy. I left at least one in the tank. Wish I had a good spotter.

Had to put 6 plates on my back just to feel the weight. It’s been a long time.

Great squatting, OP, your numbers are consistently moving north. Also, you really ought to vid your squats every once in a while, you can really learn alot that way. And no shit about wishing for a good spotter. :).

Nice work.

Squats, DL, Bench are all going up. Great progress.

JK - Thanks, I’ve got to figure the video thing out. Do you think my circa 1984 VHS Sony will do the trick?
Hel - Thanks for checking in. Sorry I haven’t gotten around to everyones log in a while. Its been a little hectic.

C3/W3 5/3/1 Week

MP Day.

MP Warmups (got to remember to treat the shoulders like glass). Disclocates, bar x 30 at various angles and grip widths, 95x10.

Standing Military Press
135x5, 155x3, 170x4

BBB: 5 sets 95x10

Chins:
7xBW, 6xBW, 5xBW, 5xBW, 6xBW, 4xBW

Not a great workout and again I was short on time. I’ve got to get to the gym earlier, but flew home from SLC yesterday and was a little tired. Getting pissed that I can’t get my own weight over my head for a few strict reps. Every 50 year old should be able to do that…right?

PM’d Shugart about the HRT Help Sub Category request last night. Nothing but crickets so far.

DAMN… I’d about give my left testicle to be able to do that. Nice lifting OP and good luck on the quest for the TRT forum…

JW,

If you give it up, you may not ever be able to put your weight overhead. Give up an earlobe or excess nasal hair if you must.

I’m reseting my maxes for the next cycle. Deload starts next week.
I have no expectations for continuing the rate of gains like I’ve made in the past 3 cycles but it will be nice to see Squats and Deads continue moving north.

Here’s a snapshot of the last three cycles going into the fourth.

cycle 1 → cycle 2 → cycle 3 → cycle 4

Bench 330 → 335 → 345 (Current PR of 5x295 = 344) → 350
MP 190 → 195 → 200 (Current PR of 8x155 = 196) → 200
Squat 315 → 325 → 335 (Current PR of 7x285 = 350) → 360
Deads 250 → 275 → 335 (Current PR of 3x315 = 350) → 360

(PR’s based on 3rd cycle results)
