Monkeying Around

Made a pretraining mistake today. Thought I felt good so I didn’t stretch, foam roll or take ibu. By the time I got to the gym I was running late and didn’t have time there. As soon as I got under the bar my back, hips, hammies, and left knee all ached. Forged ahead.

Box squat, low box
225 + green bands 2 x 2
275 + green bands 2 x 2
335 + green bands 6 x 2

Pull against Dbl’d minis 225 x 2, 315 x 5 sets of 1, real fast

rack pull mid shin 405 x 5, 495 x 5, 585 x 5, 675 x 3, 745 for a 10 lb PR x 0, missed it twice, first time I have missed a weight in a long time, but just didn’t have it in the hips or back at that point

leg press 7 sets 12-15 reps, last two sets w/24 plates

nice work- big rack pulls

I have band envy
I always get tricked into thinking I can train- with only a little warmup,
not so much.

Nice pulls buddy. C’mere and give me a big kiss… lol!

I am still pissed about missing 745. I was off on my set up, off in that I tried to do it as a third exercise, off in that my right low back and left knee both still feel like shit. Oh well, I will douche and be fine.

20 minutes treadmill, 20 minutes elliptical.

Went to the doc finally this a.m. regarding sinus issues. He asked me how long I have been getting him. About 8 years. Have you ever had your nose broken? yes, several times. When was the last time? Oh, about 8 years ago. He looked inside and my septum is basically snapped in half. Will require surgery. Not in the cards financially with the lay off, and the bairn on the way. So I have bucco prescriptions for nose sprays, antibiotics, etc. I will definitely try the nose spray before heavy benchign tomorrow.

i think it’s a prerequisite to lift heavy things that at some point you have to have broken your nose. i’ve had mine broken twice. in most cases (especially mine) it a sign of thick headedness. i say it all the time…“i may not be smart but i sure can lift heavy things”

and it’s way too easy… “rub some dirt on it”

Thing that sucks is I know it is holding back some of my lifting. The other week when I hit the 550 x 2 off 2board one of the guys spotting said “Jesus, did you do that on one breath?”

I didn’t think this is odd. Apparenlty you should be sucking in more air through your nose between reps. Most of the time my nose is too fucked up to do that.

And Meat, yes, I made that easy. Typing that whole post I already new you would be following behind me.

Gotta clean up the house like the good little bitch I am, then picking up the wife to do Xmas shopping for the 3 year old. I am stoked. Tonight I am making the wife and my eldest a special birthday dinner of crab legs, calamari, and whatever else I can come up with.

Awesome Saturday morning benching. Third week training at new place, and I got constant reinforcement, criticism, grief, pushing, and praise all when needed. Shit is falling into place.

Raw bench went something like 50 x 15, 140 x 15, 230 x 10, 280 x 5, 320 x 3, 370 x 1

Loaner 2 ply size 54 Titan Fury: 3 board 500 x 3, 2 board 560 x 2, 560 x 2, 1 board 560 x 2, 2 board 590 x 2, 620 x 2.

The 620 x 2 was by far the most controlled set. Looonnnngggg pauses at top, bottom, and top. (I was sick of getting shit for ‘repping’ the weight). Everything from 560 on was a weight PR, LOL.

Pressdowns agains doubled purple bands 6 x 20-25

pulldowns 6 x 12-20

laterals 4 or 5 sets of some reps.

Biggest thing that came to my mind when driving home was that shit, I really gotta get more weight on the bar when I squat. And I don’t even want to talk about my deadlifts.

Great work, Pete. That’s alot of freaking weight. Sounds like your new place rocks.

Pete, you’re working hard over here my man!! Nice benching and impressive pulls!!

Warning: Don’t kiss Bunnyman on the lips— you don’t know where they been! (Plus, he might try to slip you the tongue!)…

Thanks all. As it is, my bench is currently on track to be heavier than my pull. gotta see what I can do about that. Feel like I got hit by a freight train

Great work on the bench, Pete!

Congrats on the PRs!

You are moving some serious weight. Real glad you found that gym. Oh, never come anywhere near my family. We’re some huggin fools. Ain’t so bad with the women but the men tend to crack ribs.

Never mind the lips, you should see where my tongue has been, lol!!

Nice PR’s benchin’… whore!

Bunny you are truly a sick individual.

25 minutes elliptical. No more, no less today. Left knee is giving me trouble. Need to get back on the fish oil.

frustrating night tonight

unintentional deload, but probably due

Squat worked up to 535 and on the second rep my knee buckled. Everything felt off and shitty, so decided to shut it down.

Deads 315 x 5, 405 x 5, 495 x 3

Hanging leg raise 5 x 15-20

That’s it.

Who cares about 1 bad day of lifting when your getting great numbers everywhere else.

sidenote on the nose thing have you ever tried those things that open your nose slightly (used for snoring) that should help a littleon the breathing oh and salt water in each nostril every morning(q-tip) and night works wonders for me (5 nose breaks-fubared septum).

Great lifting brother and to think I was catching you on bench.

Fischer,
Bum knee finally got the best of me. Probably combination of weather and stressing it out too much. I had a botched knee surgery several years back, somehow it really acts up this time of year.

Regarding the nose, tried all of the above. Right now doing the netti pot/spray bottle routine, helps a lot. Sounds like your septum mirrors mine.

pulldowns 6 sets worked up to 305 x 8

low rows with wide ‘bench’ grip 5 x 15 w/stack

db shrugs 4 x 20-30, up to 120s

preacher curls 5 x 10-15 with 115

hammer curls 70s x 8, 80s x 8, 90s x 6

face pulls/cable abs/standing calve circuit, 4 sets of some of each

was gonna do cardio at the gym today, but didn’t happen. a few younger guys were in who are training for meets, so jabber jawed instead. plus the wife told me not to, to give my knee a days break at least.

training the gunzz is a great way to take your mind off of your bum knee.

you’ll be back skwatt’n in no time. have you thought that you may want to cycle your full ROM squatting. are there squat variations that don’t bother the knee as much?
