I went it wanting a lot of volume. My ME days are so low volume now, even more so than before. Felt like I had to catch up.

Thanks MCL. I have trained as a low volume guy, and as a high volume guy. Right now it is kind of a mix. Maybe a little training OCD. But for instance on the V grip pulldowns I will note the weight wasn’t anywhere near failure until the last two sets, same pretty much across the board on that day. Same could be said for today. Although gotta say the close grips against bands felt extra tough after the speed work.

Preface: OK, my wife comes from a huge, gargantuan Irish Catholic Chicago family. And they are all huggers and kissers. Now, I appreciate the niceness of this, but after 11+ years together still can’t stand hugging and kissing 40-50 people everytime they get together. I hug and kiss my wife, my mom and kids (in a different way) and not really anyone else, siblings included. It is just not our thing. Apparently over the years some members of my wife’s family have become aware of this and have dubbed the uncomfortable duck away manuever I do when confronted with the hugging and kissing the ‘Pete S bob and weave’.
So yeaterday, at the commercial gym, after finishing up, I go to the kid center to get my little boy. He has the hugest fixation right now on Peter Pan, Captain Hook, and all things related to pirates. I see him playing with a great big pirate ship, with this super cute little girl sitting there just staring at him. He is so into the pirate ship he doesn’t see me nor is he really paying any attention to the little girl. I lean over the ledge and say ‘hey buddy, cool pirate ship.’
He looks up and smiles big little kid smile.
Little girl starts to look sad. ‘Is that your daddy?’
‘Nyah’ says my boy.
The little girl proceeds to then put her arms around him and lean in for a big smooch goodbye. My kid gets this funny look on his face and darts his head under her arms and comes running, doing the full on ‘Pete S bob and weave.’
Genetics rule. Scot/Norwegian cold shoulder 1, Irish hug and kiss 0.

my wife’s family is like that as well. there’s something morally wrong with kissing your mother in law on the lips. i always attempt to move my face at the last second. most of the time i’m not fast enough but other times i get a nose kiss or an eye kiss… all of which are not pleasant.
