Haven’t done these in about a year, and not consistently for even longer. I think working these in will cure some of my ills now. Kept the weight light to work on form, and firing my quads. Only rested about 40 seconds between sets though so I won’t lie, the last one was fairly tough.

yesterday and today trying to increase the intensity of the SS cardio. My work schedule is going haywire right now, a lot of my training is hard to fit in, and so the first thing to go has been the interval conditioning. I don’t see this getting back on track until the week of 12/1. So, in in the interim I will make the easier stuff a little harder, and try and bump up the frequency from 4 x a week to 5 or 6 for the next two weeks.

Thanks guys, there is a meet I might do in February. I am conflicted. It is personality issue with the meet director. Not sure I want to give that person my money. But I don’t see to much else on the horizon. So I am planning my training right now with that meet in mind, we shall see though.

my way of thinking about competition has changed. I don’t really care about the politics of a certain fed or the people running it. for most, it’s a money making thing. i just go in and try to do better than i did last time. i will always compete in the open class, even when i’m the old dude.

Meat, kinda agree with you, but we have also discussed this fed. That being said I will most likely do this one, but maybe as a BOF just so I don’t have to spend the whole day there:)

Let’s just say I used to have a bad habit of getting my nose broken too often when I was younger. It started, but didn’t end, with boxing. Now things don’t drain right. And ever since I have had a kid in daycare, everytime he comes home with any kind of bug, I proceed to develope a sinus infection.

On a side note I pretty much proved to myself that I have been really stupid regarding recovery and mobility work, and it has been impacting my lifting numbers. The other day I was talking to a friend, a competitve PLer and PT at my gym, that I train with from time to time, and was bitching about my DL issues lately. He spot on said ‘sounds like you are just to tight, especially in the hip flexors’. So last night, after getting the wife and the monkey to bed (they are both going to bed at the same time, first trimester for her an all), I dug in the closet and broke out the foam roller. Hit the hips, hammies, and my entire back with a gazillion rolls, then did some static stretching, while watching CSI. Today, I feel the best I have felt in months. Will do this again tonight (heck, nothing else to do after 9 p.m.) and hopefully see improvement in tomorrows squat/dl session.

OK, stupid factor hitting me again. I originally had my doc appointment scheduled 2 weeks ago, at 10:40. When I rescheduled it I changed the time to 8:10, however did not change that time for my outlook calendar on my phone, so I missed the appointment.

Since I was pretty close to the gym went and trained instead. Ran into an old training partner, actually knew he trained at this time at that gym so it wasn’t really accidental. He obsesses about training as much as me, so got some good jaw work in as well. Ended up with a damn good session:

DE Bench 215 + doubled minis, 8 sets of 3. This was done after STRETCHING and a ton of warm ups. Felt great.

Close grip inclines worked up to 250 x 15 PR

Dumbell bench 100s x 10, 125s x 21 PR

Rolling tris with mini around back 90s x 10, 100s x 10, 110s x 8 PR

pressdowns 3 x 20

front raise w/barbell 3 x 12

lateral with ez curl bar 3 x 12

cable abs 3 x some

Hmm, short Irish New Yorker, free nose jobs, got scrappy when he drank… yeah, we would get along in person… have quite a few of my old friends cut from that cloth, or one similar.

Got in for ME lower today. Brought my as yet unused squat suit with, single ply Metal IPF squatter.

Raw squat bar x a million, 135 x 10, 225 x 5, 315 x 5, 405 x 3, 495 x 3,

Add suit, most of the way up, straps down: 565 x 1, 585 x 1, 605 x 1, 625 x 1.

625 was super easy, today’s squatting was more educational than maximal. I have done this weight raw, no PRs here. This suit might not be best for me, I should have probably gotten the V type squatter, which is how I have been squatting raw for the last year. This brings my stance way in. But since I spent the money I will give it a run. Next week I will push the weight up, now that I know the groove a little better.

One training partner completely bailed today, another had to leave early, and due to a small family emergency I was running a little late. STill got the work in. A couple of kids training for a raw meet in June were picking my brain, actually wanted to know how to train the squat and DL.

Invited them to start training ME days, we’ll see if they show. Can always get 5 guys to show for bench night, squatting and pulling time I tend to hear crickets:)

Scottish and Norwegian here, love to drink but always expect my conquests to foot the bill… and noone is allowed to have too much fun. Except me, of course.
