Frustrated: my ‘dl’ exercises over the last couple months have seen some PRs, i.e. GMs, rack pulls, etc. These are the things that have improved my strength over the last year, but I think now I need to ditch them as ME movements anyway and pick my alternatives. The defecits pulls seem good, I think I need to add in reverse bands, and pulling against bands, as well as putting back in speed pulls on that day.
My set up is goofy right now, and I have somewhat changed from being quad dominant to more hamstring dominant. I need to get my quads firing again. My pchain feels effen bullet proof right now, my grip strength is the best it has ever been, but all of this at the expense of my quads are being lazy.
I don’t think they are week, I am just not getting them involved enough. And also once I get to the bar I start over thinking it. Need to get my form back to second nature, so all I have to do is… grip and rip!!!
Side note my best friend and his wife came over for dinner tonight. They are expecting too. Been friends with this guy since the HC matinee era. They are 2 weeks further along than us, so my wife has her prego buddy now, and I have someone to commiserate with regarding female hormonal rages. Good times.
Second side note: man does my little boy like the ladys. Took him to the gym with me and he said ‘I want to wear my new boots to show her.’ I said ‘show who’. ‘The girl at the gym.’ So he put on his new Toy Story snow boots and we went off to the gym. Sure enough, as we checked in at the front desk, with the cute young blonde girl working, he tilts back his leg and raises his foot up in the air and says ‘Hey, I got new boots’.
He also then proceeded to flirt with a sometime training partners girlfriend {wouldn’t give him the time of day} and every female that was attractive at the grocery store afterwards. Kids got good taste too. He even tried to work one really attractive 50ish woman, so he isn’t totally age biased, but definitely prefers them between 16 and 40.
