Monkeying Around

Pete- I have never done GM’s…what’s your take? Seems like a lot of low back strain? Benefits? Appreciate the feedback

I include a GM variation at least once a week. They will increase your stability under load for squats and increase you low back strength for deadlifts better than near anything else, or least that has been my experience.

Thanks Pete, I will give them run tomorrow AM following squats. Appreciate

Thats a impressive load for those high rep GM’s. Big time work.

Those are nice GM’s

I am struggling with 135x10 Ill fix that soon.

so full sweats on the east coast are like Adidas suits or plastic shiny suits.
I know the charming albino is fond of the shorts over the sweats, I’m betting
Meat is to. Im waiting for the camo hat to show up in his vids

No Adidas suits or plastic shiny stuff, strict cheap Champion gym attire here. However I know the exact look you are talking about. We call it the Russian Mob look. A few years ago a friend in law enforcement, who was courting his wife at the time, explained to her that you can always spot a Russian mobster because they have the whole track suit thing going on.

A few days later we were all getting together, and as they were pulling up to the venue, she spotted a guy in the full track suit and said ‘look, a Russian mobster.’ We all laughed because it was our friend Russ, experiencing a fashion crisis.

Just got back from the gym. Did this:

Bent rows worked up to 315 x 10. These were aggravating my left rear delt/lat tie in. This is a new injury I have been trying to train around.

I then did Yates style under hand rows 3 x 10 @ 315 These bothered it too.

Shrugs 3 x 20

pulldowns 5 sets 8-12 reps, last 300 x 8 first time doing that w/o straps

rev grip pulldown 3 x 10

hammer curls 60s x 10, then drop set of 80s 70s 60s for 6 each

face pulls a bunch

cable abs a bunch

My older son trained with me today. That was nice. Went to pull the sled but all 3 pairs of straps were missing. And all of the PTs were missing, seriously of the 10 trainers usually floating around not one was there. Must have been a meeting.

On the way to the gym the wife called me, she had tried to do a yoga class but there was a woman in there letting one rip every thirty seconds or so. Triggered the wife’s morning sickness, she had to leave to go throw up. Come on, if you are farting that much don’t you think you should leave, lol?

The truth has been spoken. LOL. I thought I was looking dashing, my hat matches my beet red face (this was after squat/dl day after all).

Nice work, cute kid.

most BB rows even the underhand type kill my tendonitis
I should just rub dirt on my elbows.

Yeah we got the russian mobster, look going plenty, I used to live in a russian neighborhood
youd see packs of them rocking the same sweat suit at their “social clubs”
better is the aging mobster look- seriously overweight type, wearing the plastic sergio tachini full suit.
and a gold bracelet.

I think my gym clothes come from target so nothing exciting here

For the rows I can adjust the angle I am pulling on the ‘kroc’ rows enough not to aggravate, but I want to alternate week to week dumbell rows w/something heavier. Will try Tbars week after next.

All of my gym clothes come from Target. This is the mecca of Target here, even all of my groceries come from there. Unless from a specialty place/butcher. They started carrying the Champion brand stuff a few years back, so I don’t feel like so much of a reject, since that brand has some old school HC street cred, or did anyway.

“Super Target, daddy?” is one of my boy’s favorite phrases.

Speaking of old school HC, its been a while since my last stage dive, but I did get my picture in Maximum Rock and Roll once doing a stage dive in a suit and a Reagan mask at a 7 Seconds show. And my buddy took a pretty good mic-stand-to-the head from Rollins at one of the last Black Flag shows he did in Seattle. He kept yelling “Henry, time to get another tatoo, you worthless piece of shit!,” and pop, 13 stitches later, we had a pretty good story.

ahhh memories… I remember seeing 7 Seconds at this really dodgey bar, I think it was the one and only time they did all ages shows, in like 84. They headlined a 7 band show and I think it cost five bucks to get in. Kevin Seconds actually has been doing some interesting music lately. And I spent much of my youth heckling Rollins. Interviewed him a couple times for a little fanzine I did back then too.

struggled out of bed and popped some ephedra, barely got me on the elliptical for 30 minutes

DE Bench
205 + doubled minis 8 sets of 3

Close grip incline worked up to 275 x 9, cheap PR

timed dumbell bench 60s for 1 minute. Thought I could make it to 2 minutes, gonna have to work up to that.

rolling tris with mini wrapped around back 90s x 10, 100s x 10, 110s x 6

pressdown, stack + mini 3 x 12-15

cable front raise 3 x 8-10

leaning lateral with curl bar 2 x 12

I am seriously laughing my ass off. Someone needs to do a youtube skit of this one.

Growing up my wife was taught to refer to farts as ‘busters’, this woman in the yoga class has now been named Mrs. Buster in our house.

Grind threw another 45 minutes of monotonous nothing. Busy work week suddenly slowed to a halt.

3 hours past my workout and my tris still feel shot. The timed benching is something I read in one of Louis’ articles as while back and just now decided to try. Could not believe the lactic build up. 110s x 6 on the rolling tris/with mini is a pr as well.

You’re not that ugly Pete. But your son is a cute little bugger. You didn’t steal any of his candy did you??

Steve thanks for being in my corner. Regarding candy ‘stealing’, well that is just a nasty word. Redirect? Rechannel? I like those better:)

BTW I kinda sorta think I can viceo some lifting this weekend. Feel like Meat has called me out. Now, I am no postwhore like him. But if he wants to see me lift, well, I will try to appease. You know rumour has it he has a thing for tranny porn. And now he is wondering when I am going to post vids? Hmmmm…

Funny thing how technologically challenged I can be with the little things, considering my career is techno based… Actually it just might be laziness, and the fact that the pricey cam I bought a few years ago is not a lift recorder, but a little boy recorder. But I am ‘redirecting’ and ‘repurposing’…

Computer and camera ain’t talking to each other correctly, so no video. Today would have been an embarassment anyway.

Leg raise: 4 x 10-15

DL, conventional: 155 x 10, 245 x 5, 335 x 5, 425 x 3, 515 x 1, 565 x 1, 625 x 0 stalled at knee 625 x 1.

No explosion out of the bottom, breaking the floor just fine but I am not getting back on my heels, and my quads ain’t doing their job. the 625 x 1 was basically an RDL. And ugly. In the past if I can break it from the floor I can complete the job. Mad so I finished that with

535 x 5 for 2 sets. Every rep slow off the floor.

Full range Zerchers. 135 x 10, 225 x 5, 275 x 3, 315 x 1, lost my balance on the second and dumped it.

Did these with a fairly close stance.

RDLs 3 sets of 5 with 335

Standing calves 4 x 12-15

I have some glaring weekpoints right now in the DL: speed from the floor, some form issues that I need repetition to correct, and a whopping case of vaginitis, to start with. I know what I need to do to get where I call pull closer to 700, will be implementing some changes starting immediately. My overall strength is there, I just need to start getting the DL itself up to my expectations.
