I spectated the Cal Open meet.

Jon North is built like a freakin’ Tank. It was awesome watching him snatch 160 kg (only 5 less than the American record I think they said) Weird thing was he missed twice at 180 kg in the CJ (he made 175 kg), yet I’ve seen a video of him CJ 185 kg at the '10 Arnold. (Possibly it was because he had to do 3 CJs in a row because no one else was at his level.) Ian Wilson, who I think won the PanAm games Youth division was there as well.

There were not that many adult male competitors. A wide spectrum of ages and levels of ability though.
Any video of that about?
Go to Thibadeau’s forum, Pendlay’s thread -his 2nd to last post has a link to 2 different angles, plus a link to an interesting article he wrote about how hard North works to get to the level he is at.

Hazelnut gelato is the holy grail.

Thanks DZ. That scap crap seems to be doing the trick more than anything else. I’ve used it in the past, but not as consistently as lately and the results seems to be cumulative.

Replacement camera arrives in two days.

Bought a singlet too. Will be entering the Nov 6 SPF Raw PL competition in Sac.

edit:

Just paid my entry fee.

^ now you must post vid wearing singlet. it is written in stone.

Now - do you mean I must be wearing the singlet when I upload the vid to youtube or that I must be wearing said singlet in said vid? I’m going to be training in it anyway to get used to it, but the other is just a little too control-freaky for me…

…?

It’s good to have options. That was one that hadn’t occurred to me, but it is an option, certainly.

Outstanding.

I’m going to buy a singlet too and just assume my back is going to recover.

i’m going to buy a singlet and ask my wife to wear it

Dang - I was planning on squatting today, but I did a bunch of stair leaping and jumps while waiting for my wife to get off work yesterday. Am now a bit tight.

The campus where she works has a couple connected flights of 6 to 8 22 inch high stairs, bleachers really, and a bunch of concrete benches with backs 40 (or thereabouts) inch high backs all in row beside the buildings.

4 rounds of two footed leaping up both flights of bleachers.

So…normal people sit down in the benches and wait for their spouses to come out of the secure building. What do I do? I walk down the row of them and leap to the top of each.

15-20 jumps.

I got “the look” again as my wife was walking towards me from the building.

Normal people are boring.

Box jumpy type things are great leg training. They rather scare me, so perhaps I should do them more.

One of my mini-goals has been to squat 315x10. I’m certain I could have done it today had I not done the stair and bench jumping yesterday. Wore the magic weightlifting shoes which creates a larger range of motion, and I could really feel my adductors working more than usual. Stopped ATG squats because they are negatively affecting my turnaround strength for power squats. I never would have expected that. They’ve been great for my knees, but they are not strengthening the turnaround spot as I thought they would. I think High box squats will, though.

Thats a damn fine lower body day there DCA…
