Hey, thats a fine result. I can’t comment on form cause this Oly lifting is out of my league but it looked good to me.

Snatches w/2 sec hold

Clean + Clean & Jerk

Went back into the garage today and did a slew of nice looking 125lb snatch doubles - the correct way. They went much better than yesterday’s 135’s with the bar going back well. I almost lost one backwards, which is a good sign. No more watching Jon North: His levers are different from mine…
congrats on the snatches.
Do you find you enjoy the technical aspect of the Oly lifting more than the PL style you did before?
Can I ask how thick your rubber mat is you’re dropping onto? and is it just concrete underneath? Is that working alright?.
Lifting’s looking great.

Not more, but just as much. If I get this stuff down and get stronger at it, my feeling is that my powerlifts will stay even or get better, so I’m going for Oly lifting while I still have mobility for it.

My mats are 3/8" and it’s just concrete beneath. I’m panning to get plywood down to absorb some of the pounding and maybe make my bar last longer. I can’t help but feel the pounding busts up the bearings inside the sleeves. I get concerned about the concrete pad, too. This house I’m in was not made from the finest materials as far as I can tell.

Hang Clean + full Clean
165 1x5 sets
Clean pulls
185 2x5 sets
Clean and double push jerk
155 1x4
155x1 (triple push jerk)
Hang clean from mid-thigh
185x2
205x2,1+0,2
Snatch Grip Romanian DL
205 5x2 sets
Wanted to practice catching cleans low, but I keep pulling too high to catch low. 205 did the trick, but I’m not strong enough in the mid-section (I don’t have a “core”) to decelerate the bar enough all the time.
ghetto outfit T!
love the commentary on the last vid ![]()

I was going for the “Deranged homeless elf” look.
It was just really cold in my garage today… Well, cold for Coastal California, anyway.
Shorts over Sweats FTW
I knew you would return to your roots-
lifting looks great .

I like the spring with a weight on it idea for the catch / stand up. Or catch and collapse as I tend to practice it. Trying to learn to bounce smoothly out the hole using muscular tension and not quite pulling it off. When I do manage to bounce bouncing straight up is pretty hard unless I really hit that bottom position squarely, though. I’m a big floppy slinky spring, I guess.

It’s a learning process. My body is still learning what it can do and what it needs to do. The snappiness comes once the organism gets comfortable being under load in unusual positions, I think.

BTNPP

I learned that I have to pull the bar back when coming off the floor, rather than up. This sets up the second pull very nicely for my levers. Almost sent the bar back over my head a couple times. Getting under the bar better too. Still not fast, but it’s starting to hit a groove.
The behind the neck presses look somewhat dangerous. If I tried that, I’m sure I would bring the bar down right onto my head.

I’ve done that, believe me.
wow Tony, things are looking great over here. Are you still working with a coach?

Yup - that’s why I’m getting better…and weaker. Just kidding. He’s kept me at lower poundages working technique. Interestingly enough, getting weaker has enforced better technique, because I can’t simply muscle up the weights. He’s letting me do some real strength moves again, though, so I must be improving.
