last week’s - since it’s already uploaded.
Tony, here’s the improvements I see over the past month:
-
You keep the weight very close at all stages of the lift.
-
You pull less with your arms early in the lift, so get under the bar much quicker.
-
Your back angle is much better from the floor to knee height.
Yes that 155 was too light. You had almost no hip involvement in and just before the second pull because of your attempt to not pull the bar so high. Your hips did much better in the high pulls because you weren’t cutting things short.
Not all horizontal force is a waste. Pushing the bar back via lat contraction takes nothing from your vertical force production and puts you in a mechanically advantageous position for applying vertical force.
Over all, looking very good. Keep up the hard work.
Your lifting is looking great.
I read your’s and Carl’s discussions with interest, even though I don’t understand the finer points. It amazes me how a lift that takes a fraction of a second can be so technical in nature. (the snatch)
I bet a person could spend their whole life trying to perfect it.

Thanks Carl!
DCA- You’re lifts are coming right along. You’re a machine for sure.
Keep going!
Okay I see what you are saying and I imagine you have to have a great deal of testicular fortitude to do that sort of lifting.

I’m still scared to jump under a weight in free fall. But I’m getting more used to it. When it clicks, it’s going to feel beautiful.

Hiding out at a buddy’s house due to tsunami warnings in our area. I guess you could say it was a choppy day and that trouble cam in waves…
He has a kick-ass gym and I couldn’t resist mucking around with his training gear.
Behind the neck push press
95x5
135x3,3
3x4 sets @ 150
Snatch grip deadlift
3x4 sets @ 235
Quirky triples circuit
Safety bar Squats @215? + BB curls @115 + swiss bar close grip presses @155?
3 x4 rounds
The safety squat bar weights were light but (and I’ve read about this) that bar wants to fold you over hard. My upper back is sore already simply from having to maintain thoracic extension. I want one.

Snatch Doubles
barx triple
75x1
95x1
115x1,1
130 1x3 sets
Double Clean + jerk
150 1x3
Squat triples
255 3x3
Low Clean Pulls
285 2x3 sets
Snatches
Not finishing my pulls very well on the snatches OR I’m trying to snap from too low, it feels like.
C&J
No snap on the cleans because frankly it’s just too light.
Squats
Squats felt good and easy,
Low pulls
Learning the low clean pull - think I need more rebend, but was concentrating on keeping the back angle the same as on cleans. First set I used deadlift form which has my back almost parallel to the floor.

I’d never thought of it in those terms before …

It’s true - you either adjust to go around or you end up finding some other pursuit to be of more interest…
You’re strength to bodyweight ratio is sick. Makes me highly jealous.

Was. I’m a lot weaker now since I haven’t been pushing anything heavy for a month…

Figured out how to hook my PC speakers to my tv (HURR!) so I had some tunes on Pandora through my Roku receiver. Soundgarden, Yay!
Cleans were easy. High pulls weere lower than last time, but I think I can get them up higher next time. Unsteady on the last push jerk, time to start ab work again. Front Squats felt heavier than they should have - I should be popping back up out of the hole with that weight, especially for doubles.
enjoying following your log and watching your lifts. learning a lot. ![]()
Congrats on the PR, Oly lifting really seems to suit you.
