Best Snatch today out of many
Finally got under instead of pulling it high. Not good enough, but good enough for today.
Nice. Not only did you catch it low, but you feet moved. Indicates a better finish to the second pull.

I spent today trying to catch it lower and I dropped more than I got. A couple I hit the second pull just right but pulled too hard and I had to follow it up to stop it from going back over me. The misses are teaching me much more than the “successes” right now.
I dropped a post on Glenn Pendlay’s Q&A thread about recommendations for older lifters. He says older lifters should do a lot of reps at moderate weight. I don’t know if that’s for forever, but I intend to max out now and then after this “burn-in” period is finished.
You’ve got a phenomenal work ethic. And isn’t it against the law for a Californian to be a pasty white as Canadians in winter?

Ah, but I’m from Northern, Northern California, where the mythical legends of sun-sightings were told to us as children to frighten us into being good.
As far as work ethic - pft! That’s all technical work, none of it’s heavy. It’s more like throwing darts than it is like toting barrels.

Good session today. Cleans are cleaner and jerks are coming along.
Best Clean (Also the last one. The ones I missed simply because I didn’t duck under the bar fast enough - the 1st and second pull and the bar position were exactly the same. Still power cleaning and sinking, but I’m getting a better feel for these. I was consistently missing @205 before.
Best Jerk from the rack @200
Okay - no vid. Sorry.
got yourself some extra pads under the weights? help keep the noise down?
Looks to me like you have plenty of speed on the bar.

to spread out some of the force. I worry a little about the cement pad. Gophers have tunneled under all the concrete around the house and I’m not entirely sure they haven’t gone under the garage as well.
Bar speed seems to be good. Seems more like the “me” speed needs work.
Trying again
Best jerk @200
edit:
That’s an Olympic Jerk from the rack, one half of a Clean and Jerk. Yep. That’s what it is.
If you could see it.
It was gorgeous. Trust me.
To bad there’s no proof ![]()
just teasin.
With all the self-criticism in this log it’s nice to see some positive. Happy your finding your groove.

I think the self criticism comes with the Olympic-lifting territory. It’s a type of lifting where technique matters a whole bunch. If you’re off by millmetres or milliseconds, you fail the lift. The tendency is to blame oneself, I suppose, rather than the difficulty of the pursuit.
When you get it right, though, it feels sweet.
great work Tony. Isn’t pendlays gym in the Excremento area?
