Tony, I fully expect to someday find a book or at least a system authored by you in the lifting area. Keep it up.[/quote]

Thanks Hel. Unfortunately or fortunately, this is stuff someone else has already written about and much better than I could do it, so I don’t really need to do that work. I’m all about the chillaxing.

That “hurt feelings report” gave me a much-needed laugh. Thanks!

Okay - get to have another go at trying to see the eye doctor today. Hopefully I can pass the smell test with Moe and Joe, the Obstructo twins at the front desk. Gotta get my Kaiser member number first, then brave their glacial regard one more time.

“Moe, he don’t smell like customer. Me think we grind his bones for lunch…”

“No Joe, boss said we can’t do that no more. Scares the other ones off.”

Cuz I really wants me some corrective eyewear that’ll make me look smarter and sexier than I really am. Lord knows a monk needs every advantage.

I can tell you this… When i hit 41, my arms got short as hell. The ortho doc sent me to the eye doc… Damn ortho doc wouldnt make my arms longer… Good luck with the appt, Tony

Yah, just for squats and deads. I might push bench and MP alternately but not hard. I want to try to use the BBB sets to push the poundages higher on the main sets, really, since I’m doing this stupid running stuff.

so you’ve become a slave to 5/3/1 as well huh?? that’s okay… as long as you ease it in, it doesn’t hurt nearly as much.

as for the vision, i used to wear glasses when i was in my early 20’s. my vision has actually gotten better. this past year i went to the eye doc and my vision is now better than 20/20. when i asked how that could be, the doc told me that i’m far sighted and far sighted people can strengthen their vision by trying to focus on things far away. i was told that eventually vision goes but to wait as long as possible to get glasses because they make your eyes weaker.

Good work TOny, I’m talking about getting back to running 5k and under fairly regularly. Wouldn’t want to do it after squats though, that would suck

running after squats: did that on wednesday. My legs were crying for 2 days. Hope your doms are easier then mine.

Nice picture. Very nice. My favorite is still the shirtless pullup video, but damn I can’t seem to find the page that’s on…

Why are you running? Sorry if you already explained the purpose of that and I missed it.

Gotta catch breakfast. Bacon runs real fast

They aren’t. I’ll do some bodyweight squats to get some blood there and clean the legs out. I’m walking like a double peg-leg right now.

Dr. said I need aerobic activity fer my heart, not that I buy into that bulshit. But I want to be able to run again even if I hate it. Seems to help the weakness in my right hip and low back and makes me a better lover I hear. So why not?

Squats + running would absolutely debilitate my creaky old knees.

For “aerobic activity” I take a spin class (hangs head in shame…). Pedaling is concentric only, so will not add to doms, and should actually promote recovery (kudos to Thibaudeau for all his knowledge).

I wear a heartrate monitor, and average >150 bpm for 45 minutes, >160 bpm for at least 10 minutes (depends on how hawt the spin instructor looks). Given the ACSM guidelines for our ages, your Dr. would probably tell you to keep it at 120 bpm or so.

Don’t feel bad. I do this too from time to time. Can’t stand running anymore.

Oh DCA: You look about 19 in that shot!
