Momentum and Inertia

Looking to get myself some in the future. Are you going to make a wooden platform or is it OK to drop them onto a concrete floor?

I hadn’t thought of it before, but it would probably be a lot easier on the bar and the bumpers’ inserts if I banged together a platform to drop them on.

If you google it there’s loads of plans for building your own platform.

Great work, Tony. I saw the videos on youtube. Squats looked really strong. No problems at all.

And, dear Lord, that is a lot of work…

Thanks - I’ll look that up. I’ve got a bunch of old gymnastics tumbling mats I could use to absorb a lot of the shock in the platform as well.

Hmmm…

And I found this immediately:

Thanks Strick. Saw yours too. I’ve coined a new species name just for you: Ursa Sapiens Oklahomansii.

2 more sessions like this and then I rest for the meet. If the 2nd squat continues to get easier, I may shoot for a 3rd attempt of 400, rather than 385.

Cool! I am my own species…wait…

Watching the squats, my 1st thought was “400 would go up, no problem.” The strength is definitely there.

I love coffee too. But not while I’m lifting.

Nice training. The way you did those squats, resting on the blocks, looks like SO MUCH DAMN WORK! And you really are a strong DLer, especially for your size.

I must say you come up with the scariest avis…

Great video Mr.DCA. That’s really an amazing amount of weight your pulling. Your still weighing in around 190?
Very very strong!
Thanks DZ. I’m hovering between 180 and 185 these days.
That makes your lifting even more amazing to me. Are you going to lift Masters 2-181 or 198? As strong as you are going into your meet you could lift in the open class. Best of luck in the meet, I’ll look forward to hearing how it goes.

I’ll probably end up as a very light 198 as I eat the same amount but don’t train all that much during the next week. I’m going M2 only. There will be a report for sure.

Really? M2? I thought M2 was 50-59. And I also thought you were just a few months behind me.

I echo the thought that lifting what you do at 180-185 is amazing.

Thanks, George. SPF has ages 45-49 as Masters II according to the rule book. I’m forty-eight.

It’d be cool if I could get my chest measurement up to 48…

Yeah - a chest measurement to match my age would be nice - as long as my waist measurement didn’t…

Well that explains it. USAPL has M1a (40-44), M1b (45-49),…

trust USAPL to make things more complicated.

actually I think the 1a and 1b stuff may be Colorado only…

Just think how amazing we’ll both be in 2 years…

Harry’s showing the way.

Just realized I’m now M1b. Wow, I’m getting old.

I believe the M1a and M1b is a national USAPL designation. But it doesn’t work that way with IPF for international meets.

Well it would be a 50 inch chest in less than one year for me - dream on…

I believe that the rules change next year and your age class is based on the age you are at year’s end. Therefore - next year I lift in the M2a (50-54) USAPL class.

Have you cut out upper pulling? I am thinking that may be the way to go for the last two weeks or so before the meet.

Pretty much. I’m squishing my back together for most of the session, so it feels pretty worked. I have sometimes been doing something for it the next day.
