Piss off. It’s not like I’m telling him to “stay off the creatine man, it’ll fuck up your kidneys DUDE” or anything. If you can show me that teenagers do not have higher endogenous creatine production, I’m listening.[/quote]
Down boy, it wasn’t a personal attack.
A few gems from this site you mentioned though:
“Creatine also increases oxygen uptake by muscle tissue and improves performance.”
Nope. Not even close to how creatine improves performance.
“the toned look often improves one’s body image”
Not sure what that really means - are they saying bigger muscles will improve self-esteem?
"Q. What’s the right dosage? A. Scientists are still trying to find the ideal dosage of creatine that works best. For non-athletes, particularly those who are interested in just toning their muscles and adding just a little more bulk, about 3 to 5 grams of creatine a day for a month is sufficient to provide results. This amount of creatine, often about a "
And that’s where that ends. Wonder where they were going with that idea. At least they had general dosage guidelines right.
“Until we learn more about the long-term effects of creatine on the body, I recommend you take a break after a month’s use and then cycle your creatine use.”
That’s just not correct - we know your body will upregulate endogenous production even after years of use.
“There is a gradual decline of muscle mass over days and weeks after stopping creatine, but gains return quickly when creatine is reinstated.”
I hope to g-d he just means sarcoplasmic volume reduces slightly.
The dubious Q&A doesn’t say anything about teenagers having higher endogenous creatine production.
Just so you know, I think it’s perfectly safe to take creatine as a teenager and would recommend those serious about sports performance use it in addition to a solid diet and sound training. Just don’t believe everything you read on the internet, most sources are either incorrect or way behind the current literature/research. I’ve also never seen anything about teenagers having higher production - since it’s not on that site, where did you hear it?
