MMGALB727's Training Log

CBear - yes, yes it is! Thanks for the reminder!

Masch - will try to get a video on Wednesday!

Skye - am I that mysterious? ;D

That is actually VERY like me on a Sunday afternoon when I got my ass kicked the previous week! =D

So I did my workout tonight… took about 2 hours and 5 minutes… but everything felt really good. I just wish it went faster! =P

It’s weird how doing small, corrective movements is really kicking my ass! I mean there are plenty of big movements too… like pull throughs and lunges… but they are focused mostly on my firing my glutes and working my core more than lifting big weight…

Anyway, I am falling more and more in love with foam rolling every day… and I have a massage on Friday… it will be interesting to see if she notices an improvement in my soft tissue quality. I am not going to tell her what I have been doing… I want to see if she says something about it first =D

hah! Hopefully the masseuse won’t get jealous of the foam roller.

re: corrective movemements - its really great that you’re working all the kinks out. good stuff Molly!

Molly -

I totally spaced da reverse curlz!!!

Throw them in 1-2x per week, 2-3 sets of 8-10 reps.

Keep me posted on how things are going!

Haha it’s cool! I have been doing them (reluctantly!) I feel like such a tool! And if people didn’t know any better they would probably think you were kidding! I have actually just been doing reverse wrist curls… is that what you want or bicep curls with a reverse grip?

Things are awesome! I am about to go front squat… hoping to get a video for you to critique! =D

Molly, I’m in huge love with my foam roller. We have a date almost every night. Without it, I could never have fixed my ITB issues.

And, I really enjoyed the mental picture of you on the couch eating pizza and cookies. Mmmm. Cookies.

and she has the awesomest bathrobe evar!

Kimba - umm yeah! I could literally spend a half an hour on each IT band! It is so painful! Hopefully it starts to loosen up and feel better soon! And yeah… cookies! Mmmmmmm…

Bear - it’s true! I do! I have 3 bathrobes and one of them is ridiculously awesome! =D

So I broke up today’s session into 2 training sessions… spent LOTS of time on the foam roller AND got a video of my front squats! From the angle it’s hard to see… but my feet are just a hair wider than shoulder width… toes turned slightly out… and my heels are elevated probably 1-2" on some mats so that I can go deeper with a closer stance (remember I have shit flexibility in my ankles and calves).

Oh yeah and see if you can spot my crazy belly… Whenever I squat without a belt you can see how big my belly gets when I take in a big breath right before I squat and then when I am breathing between reps… it looks like a baby’s belly b/c it moves so much!

And what about the jackass who walks right in front of the camera while we are filming? WHO DOES THAT?

So graceful.
I’ve heard that being able to push out & suck in your stomach a lot is a mark of abdominal strength – but then again it was from something really ancient like the Charles Atlas book so who knows.

Oh no! The vid is frozen for me - and I really wanted to get a look at the front squats.

I’ll check back!

Alisa - I think I have heard that too… I mean if you can “vacuum” really well like the great Frank Zane, then that requires a hell of a lot of abdominal strength… but mine is clearly not that awesome. =D Check out Frank:

Masch - Here I will try and post it again… let me know if it works better:

I think we should all include “vacuum” in our progress pictures. (topless optional, of course)

molly, you first!

Heh, I can vacuum but it kind of sucks my throat in as well and make me cough. In my current state, though, it would look a little silly. Ask me again when I’ve lost 6 or 8lbs.

So I have been SOOOOO busy the last few days! I have worked 30 out of the last 48 hours and have only slept for 9… YIKES! Plus I worked another 11 hours on Thursday… (so that makes for a total of 41 out of 72 hours on not much sleep!) I am EXHAUSTED! I got in 3 of Mike’s workouts this week though… which is what I am shooting for. This week I should get in 3 more… but I have another 70 hour workweek ahead of me… (and while I am tired…I am reminding myself how blessed I am to have the opportunity to work 70 solid hours a week in this recession =D)

I had my massage on Friday (2 hours and 10 minutes long =D) and while she didn’t notice a huge overall difference in my soft tissue quality… she did say that she felt a lot more “separation” in my quads and she was able to go much deeper on them than ever before. I am confident that she will continue to see changes in other parts of my body as well…

I am looking forward to getting some sleep tonight… and I get to workout tomorrow! YAY! =D

Off to bed!

Oh yeah… and my friend Mike is competing at his FIRST powerlifting meet this weekend! He will be lifting RAW and (I think) is shooting for a 500+ bench, a 650+ squat and a 600-ish deadlift… should be good times!

Those were some pretty, pretty front squats.

Thank you Kimba! I was pretty pleased with them… they actually LOOKED better than they felt… Hopefully they are helping me strengthen my weak ABZZZZZ!!! =D

Tonight’s workout was pretty good. My set x rep scheme went from 3x8 to 3x10… Some of my weights stayed the same, and some of them even increased and I still got all the reps! So I progressed on every exercise! YAY! The highlight of my workout would be my Front Squats… 3 sets of 10 reps @ 143 lbs… no belt or anything. I also ended my workout with some energy systems work… it involved 1 Arm Kettlebell Swings (44 lb KB) and Farmer’s Walk… it was fun! I foam rolled quite a bit at the end and it feels like everything tightened right back up over the last couple of days =-/ My quads are a MESSSSSSSSSS and I want to focus more foam rolling time on them… so much to do… so little time! =P

I am getting ready for bed now! Hope everyone had a fantastic day! =D
