MMGALB727's Training Log

Thanks kimba… I was hoping to get a few more than 7… but GEEZ my lower back is feeling it today! It has been killing me for a few days actually… =(

So yesterday was REALLY EXCITING… my friend (sbmart2) and I bought a 100% organic grass-fed, antibiotic and hormone-free COW and we picked it up last night! The hanging weight of the cow was around 776 lbs (that includes bones) and we got 12 HUGE boxes of meat! We got 2 boxes of non-edible stuff (dog bones and then my friend’s family actually wanted the liver, gallbladder, heart, etc… I consider that shit NON-edible but they will probably eat it! YUCK!) Then I got 3 boxes of ground beef (prob close to 100 lbs of ground beef) and then 2 huge boxes of steak, ribs, and roasts! We tried to fit it all in her stand-up freezer… but I had to take a couple of boxes to my Mom’s house for storage. Anyway, I am PUMPED about it! We paid about $2.50 a lb (per hanging weight/lb) and so we paid about $970 apiece but it’s so worth it!

So anyway, I was supposed to workout last night… but since I spent about 3 hours loading, unloading and rearranging meat, I ran out of time and couldn’t… plus moving all that meat for several hours in the freezing cold was enough for me!

I haven’t gotten to sample the meat yet… but I will let you know how it tastes!

Good heavens. Molly bought HALF A COW!!!

I hope your back feels better. Lower back issues really suck.

You and me on the low back pain. Suck isn’t really an adequate description.
Nice work on the cow. It’s times like this that I wish I had a freezer (I’m in a studio with a kitchen the size of a postage stamp. I have a teeny fridge with a teeny ice box. That’s it). Most envious I am.

Molly, ill be over Saturday for BBQ.
kthxbye.

Molly, you LUCKY, LUCKY, LUCKY girl…you got a cow. i wish i had a freezer and the cash for that. enjoy! and take care of your back, too.

sidenote, Cal- your analogies are freakin hee-larious…you made me laugh out loud.

A whole cow?? Thats awesome! Where do you even set something up like that?

moo

Kimba - Yes! Half a cow! I guess technically I get 1/4 of it because if my boyfriend likes it then he will go in on it with me… but for now it’s ALLZ MINES! =D And yeah the lower back issues have been compounded by moving all the boxes, being on my feet a bunch lately and the bitchwhore Aunt Flo coming to visit early… ARGH! But I have a 2-2.5 hour massage tomorrow… YIPPEE! =D

Cal - Yeah I actually don’t have the room at my place… so my friend and my Mom are storing it for me and I will bring small amounts of it over as I need them. Our kitchen and fridge/freezer are a nice size, but not that big! You seriously don’t have a freezer? EEK! That’s rough! And yeah, low back pain BLOWS!

Skye - soundsgreatseeyouat6! =D

Tal - yeah I have been pumped about it for a WHILE! We saved ridiculous amounts of money in the long run too! If you bought all of the meat we got at KROGER (i.e. NOT grass fed OR antibiotic and hormone free… but just regular ole beef) the meat would cost $2400+… if you used the price of organic, grass fed beef… the meat would probably be closer to $4000-$5000 and we got it for $1900! =D

Buckeye - My friend found the ad on Craigslist and she called and we did some research and liked the people we were dealing with so we put a deposit down to hold the cow. Then once we talked to the butcher and we were satisfied that we would be getting exactly what we paid for… we just figured out a slaughter date, filled out our “cut sheets” to let the butcher know how we wanted it cut, and went from there. I haven’t tried it yet but I am excited to!

CBear = AWWWW! Remember when my nephew said that the other day at brunch? SO STINKING CUTE! MOOOOOOO! Less than a month 'til Indy!

That’s awesome, like when you get a deer cleaned. Mmmm…deer…

29 days!!! woot woot!

and yes, your nephew can help me eat pancakes anyday! lil nugget!!

Wow, a cow? That’s awesome! We bought my mom a cow for her 70th birthday last month… but it was through Heifer International so we didn’t get to, you know, eat it.

RC - I know! I actually have a friend who just killed a deer and they offered me some meat but I am a little nervous… never had deer…

Claire - I KNOW! What a FABULOUS nugget he is! I think I get to see him tomorrow! 4 weeks to INDY! WHOO HOO! I feel like I need to stretch and foam roll like 10,000x more between now and then! =D

Arachne - I LOVE Heifer International! What a kick ass organization! I am such a fan of anything that helps people help themselves! You know? My Grandmother usually gets all the grandkids some Heifer animal for Christmas every year… usually a pair of chickens or something. =D

Haven’t lifted since Monday… BUSY BUSY BUSY! Looking forward to lifting tomorrow (Saturday) YAY! =D

Speaking of the little nugget… look at his 2 year old picture! =D

OH OH OH!!! I want to tickle him just to hear him laugh!!

28 days… woot!

I know! I just wanna squeeze him! =D

OK just had a pretty good workout… It was Bench Press Day… my days are all screwed up based on spotters, my work schedule, how I am generally feeling that day, etc… but I think I will squat Monday, OHP on Wednesday, and Deadlift Saturday if I can… then it’s supposed to be a de-load week for me. Looked like this:

Barbell Bench Press
5 @ 75% (95 lbs)
3 @ 85% (110 lbs)
AMRAP @ 95% (120 lbs) I got 7 reps here! My spotter said I was using NO leg drive… which I already know. My leg drive BLOWS! I need to figure out my positioning so that I can learn to use them… but yeah… 7 was cool. I honestly think I could have done 8… but my spotter had just gotten done with a conditioning workout and his blood sugar was in the TOILET! He was all white and clammy looking… so I wasn’t 100% confident he would have the best reaction time if something happened on rep 8… =P

Barbell Floor Press with Chains
**this was kinda iffy… my tri’s felt fried and when I tried to go in a bridge position, my hamstrings were cramping around rep 5… I had a lot of work done on them during my 2.5 hour massage yesterday, so I feel like they released well yesterday and may have started tightening up again…
6 reps @ 85 lbs + 1 med chain <— CRAMP! (about 105 lbs)
5 reps @ 85 lbs + 1 med chain + 1 lg chain <---- CRAMP! (about 125-ish)
8 reps @ 65 lbs + 1 med chain + 1 lg chain
15 reps @ 65 lbs + 1 med chain <---- VERY quick and explosive!
*** Started squeezing my glutes harder and it helped with hamstring cramps…

Face Pulls
3 sets of 20 reps @ 42.5 lbs

Back Extensions
1 set of 65 reps! OW!!! =D

1.2 mile VERY brisk walk w/ my best friend who is in from California

Haha I cramp when I bridge up for floor press too. Recently I’ve started bending over to stretch my hammies while I’m sitting on the floor right before I press. It’s working
