MMGALB727's Training Log

Hi Molly, sorry to hear about your grandma. Boy, when it rains, it pours…then the sun comes out.
Keep your head up.

Skye - thanks! I am trying to keep my head up… I am dealing with everything pretty well I believe. It’s still a roller coaster and will be for a while. I will be fine for a while and then I will find myself crying in the shower, or just missing her so badly when I think about something I want to tell her and I envision her response… I know the pain will continue to lessen as the days pass… It just SUCKS that it will be a lifetime before I see her again =(

As for a training update, our little lifting clan is pretty pathetic right now… I have been sick (with the adrenal and thyroid stuff and PCOS as well as a little stinkin’ cold that won’t go away) plus I have been a mess since my grandmother passed.

Sbmart is trying to finish her dissertation and battling a cold and an injury, Katy has had an opposite schedule from all of us and then went on vacation for a week, Siouxsie is competing at Jr. National in figure in 10 days… you can imagine how her energy levels and workouts are going (EEEK!) and Shannon has been having terrible dizzy spells and has not been feeling well.

Alas, my workouts have continued…weight has maintained or increased on everything… so that’s good. will try to start logging my workouts again… have Rack Deads today… might switch that up as I had a CRAPPY session last week and not much motivation to do them again today… we’ll see. =D

Goodness, lots going on with your group. I do not think I have posted on your thread before, but I do poke my head in from time to time. YOu guys in Kentucky sound like you have so much FUN!

My training partner is my boyfriend’s 71 yr old mom, and we train in the home gym in the garage. I love her dearly, but she would drop dead of shock if I tried to banter with her the way you ladies banter!

Sorry to hear about your grandmother. She was blessed to have her faculties to the end. My mom, at 68, is having some alzheimer’s kind of moments…it scares me. And your health issues…ug. I will have to look into adrenal fatigue. I have been through a lot the last four years or so and someone early on did suggest I have myself checked for that. My short term memory has been completely shot the last year or two. Causing me troubles in my job, even…thanks for the reminder.

Just wanted to lend a little support to you and your lifting group! Yet you all persevere!

I’m really sorry to hear about your pain in your grandmother’s passing. She was obviously a remarkable woman and I’m sure she was extremely proud of you. She lived an incredible life and it sounds like you spent a lot of quality time with her. She lives on in you and your family, she has left her legacy, you will all continue that legacy, and as a group become even better because of her.

Take care,

Free

Chrysalis - that’s so cute that you lift with your bf’s Mom! And yea, I would definitely recommend NOT calling her a Hooker Face at any point in time! haha

Thanks for the kind words about my Grandmother… we were all so lucky to have her, and like you mentioned, she was so lucky to her faculties until the end. Yeah my Mom is getting forgetful now too… EEK!

You should look into the Adrenal Fatigue… it’s very real and varying degrees of it seem to be quite common. Thanks for stopping by! =D

Free - thanks so much for such a wonderful post. You are exactly right… I was so glad to spend so much time with her… and while I miss her, she is probably influencing my life more now that when she was alive. I find myself constantly wondering, “how would Grandmother handle this?” “How would she treat this person?” “What would she say in this situation?” I also find myself asking her advice almost daily now as well. I hope I make her proud. Thanks for stopping by and encouraging and supporting me. =D

Hey gorgeous…I havent commented about your grandmother since you posted about her. I’m pretty pathetic about that stuff so i just kept reading and hid behind others. but i did want to tell you that what you said about her was wonderful…and what you said about the two new babies and was even that much more amazing.

I dont think it was pure coincidence. It appears she had a huge heart and God could only replace her love with two others. Two young innocent beings…to replace such a grand woman. I’m glad she had a good life…a hard, but good life with people who surrounded her and loved her. I know its hard to grieve…but just remember…in her passing she gave your family two. I dont think she would want you to be sad, especially at this time in your life. Just keep pushing ok. (like i said…i’m bad at this thing…i’ve never experienced a loss like this).

Whenever you feel sad…smile
whenever you feel weak…push yourself
whenever you are uncertain of your future…remember why it was you started in the first place
Just remember HER whenever you have any doubts…
remember she gave her love…and would hate for your strength to disappear…

hug
have a great day hun:)

Chocolate - that is so sweet! I know what you mean that it’s hard to know what to say when someone is going through a tough time… but you said it perfectly. You definitely made me smile with that post. Thanks for your support, encouragement and kindness. =D

So as I may have mentioned, I have removed the wheat, dairy, nuts and avocado from my diet except on my cheat day (BABY STEPS people! BABY STEPS! ) And it has made me feel a little bit better and less lethargic… One big thing I noticed is that my under-eye puffiness has decreased a LOT! I used to have VERY swollen eyes for about 5-6 hours after waking… to the point where at 2 pm people would ask if I just woke up… EEK! But that has dramatically decreased… so that’s good. I am still having my Surge PWO a couple of times a week… but I tried an egg white protein from True Protein that I can stomach. It’s not the best… but it’s OK.

Lifted last night. It’s a de-load week… here is how it went:

Barbell Back Squat
135 for 5 reps
155 for 5 reps
(added a box for a parallel box squat)
185 for 10 reps <— YIPPEE! PR! =D

Step-Ups
3 sets of 6 reps @ 135 lbs

Planks (FOCUSED ON FORM! NO HIP SAGGING, NO BUTT IN THE AIR… Had someone watching my form the WHOLE TIME!)
45 second w/ 45 lb plate on my back
40 second w/ 45 lb plate on my back
35 seconds w/ 70 lbs of plate on my back

So it’s still supposed to be a de-load week… so should I pretend that I didn’t attempt Kroc rows for the first time in a month with the 110’s? OK… yeah I am nuts… I did Kroc Rows with the 110’ =D… I guess they don’t really count b/c I only got 10 reps… so I don’t know if that’s considered high enough reps to be “kroc-approved”… Anyway, CBear got it on video… hopefully she will share it soon. Other than that, did some deadlifts, pull-ups, and GHRs… tonight I did a little bench, some pullups and some incline DB press… going light on everything and doing fewer sets than normal…

Feeling OK today energy-wise… ready for bed though. Night night!

lol…so i posted to you on FA…and i thought i was going crazy for bit…then realized its my own damn fault for posting in different journals of yours…on two different sites. I’ll cut it short. I looked on FA and almost got mad that it didnt post my “i’m sorry…i wish i knew how you felt” comment…then realized the reason was cause i posted it on T-Nation…lol…wow…i’m lame

btw…how are you feeling besides less puffy eyes and less lethargic? I’m hoping that you are starting to get some energy back and maintaining some strength. I know how much being able to stay you and do all the things you normally do means to you. Especially in a situation like this…so…i’m hoping:)

Waitjustaminute…are you telling me that you and CBear train in the same gym? Holy moly, that is a whole lot of strong and beautiful in one place. Wow.

Oh, and great work with the 110’s. That’s a big weight…especially for the weaker sex (I kid, I kid). Actually, I think the video should be posted in the Bodybuilding forum to remind the beginners that they are just not working hard enough.

I think that’s a super bad idea. They will look at the beautiful woman doing it and realise they suck shit and just give up.

Ha. But based on the attitude of some of those little bitches, they should quit. Or, grow a pair.

I’ve got an extra pair. I think they’re in my gym bag. They used to belong to some soft, fat guy who thought he’d pass on some squatting advice… after he 1/4 squatted with the tampon on the bar.

But they are likely defective. I mean, he was using the tampon. Surely the test production by his little gibblets was way down. Throw them away. Or, maybe you could bronze them and mount them as a door-knocker. Would be a good conversation starter at your next tea party. While I think of it, what kind of a fucking party serves tea. I would have to skip out the garage for some Wild Turkey.

Chocolate - haha it’s OK… having two journals can get confusing! =D I have a bit more energy… which is why it is hard to de-load this week… it’s the first time in forever that I have felt pretty good. Not great still… but pretty good. Get all of my results in 10 days! Yay!

Giterdone - Cbear and I don’t train at the same gym ALL the time… she actually saw a video of my Coach, Jim and said she wanted to meet him and long story short they started dating and she comes down to Ky a few weekends a month and we get to train together! She was nice enough to take the video of the 110’s…

and trust me… don’t take offense to the “weaker sex” comment… yes, physically, on average a properly trained female’s upper body strength is about 60% of a properly trained males in proportion to their BW… so basically… any guys out there weighing 170, should be Kroc Rowing AT LEAST the 180’s for 10 or they are a FCKING PSSY and don’t train as hard as I do! =D (110/.6 = 183.3333)

Haha once the video is up, you are welcome to post it in that forum… we can see how many of them quit on the spot after their balls shrivel up…

Ouro - how do you feel about shriveled beginner balls? I know you routinely collect the balls of other wussy men… how do you feel about expanding your collection? ;D

You two fine (and by fine, I mean FINE) ladies must cause quite a commotion.

Shit. I better work on my Kroc’s. Otherwise a) you’ll call me names and hurt my feelings or b) Ouro might show up with her knife and jar. I don’t relish either thought.
