Hey does anyone know of any good MMA gyms in the bay area (Ca). I have been looking for one, but the only ones I find are in San Francisco, and I dont want to have to cross the Toll bridge every couple of days.($4each time) Thanks
Diablo barbell had a couple fighters when I was out there. They are in Concord. It is a primarily powerlifting gym, but they do have a ring and some other stuff.
Go to mma.tv, on the home page there is a school locator (Find a School), on the left side of the page. You should get a good list from there.

American Kickboxing Academy (Josh the punk thompson is one of their fighters, they have a bunch)
Frank Shamrock has a gym
Ralph gracie used to have one
There is a Gracie academy in emeryville. I believe it is he one nate diaz trains out of (i know he’s from stocton but his coach is in emeryville)

I think I just found a Gym thats real close by. Its called Tracys Karate, I will check it out later this week and post what I think. I know its says “karate”, but they train in MMA also.
Be careful with any place that says karate and claims to train MMA. Check it out, but be wary and ask questions. When UFC started becoming mainstream, all of a sudden all the TMA studios were throwing in ‘the lost grappling secrets of __________’. Find out how long the instructors have been training, where they learned, have they competed. Competition doesn’t automatically make a qualified instructor(as some people seem to think), but it is a good way to check them out.
