Ok this is opened to lovers of all teams, but I’m a dieheard Philadelphia Phillies fan. This year through hustle , guts and sheer determination, they have been on top or 1 or 2 games outta first all year. So the trade Deadline is coming up and they trade for two DECENT relievers in Dennis Cook and Turk Wendell. The thing is, they gave up on Bruce Chen who is a lefty, and is only 25. At one timeChen was the biggest prospect in the Braves system. Now thats not too upsetting, at least they are trying to make a run. The other guy they give up though is Adam Walker. He is 6 foot 7and, 7-5 in AA this yr. his Era is a stunning 1.94. He has already pitched a one hitter and a no hitter this year and they trade him for middle relief help. Now all this hurts but then they go and give up Wayne Gomes, a solid reliever who is home-grown, for a utility man. This might bite me in the arse, but c’mon, I think there were smarter trades to be made, but hey I don’t get paid the big bucks. What the Phils really need is hitting, maybe they shoulda got someone for that …hmm theres a novel idea. Hopefully it will workout. Go Fightin’s! Now anyone else interested …how about your teams?
don’t wory about walker being special, he is 25 and still in AA ball, tell me the last stud prospect that was still in AA ball at 25, I can not remember ANY. if you are going to be pissed about anything, be pissed that they wont spend MONEY even though they are the FORTH LARGEST MARKET, oh yea, and be PISSED they did not signe DREW (couple years old but still their DUMBEST move ever) peace.
I live in Seattle so I’m a huge Mariners fan. They already have a magic number (41 I think). They are shopping around for a left fielder and some of the names that have been floating around are Jose Cruz Jr. and Shannon Stewart. I think the M’s have a very good chance this year. Later
Yeah! Now this is the shiznit I’m talking about. Way to Mikey! Unfortunately I haven’t been keeping up to well with the season this year because of classes and the absence of any TV signal whatsoever, but…
I was born and raised with “ivy on the walls and sun up in the sky” A Cubbies fan for life. They–like the Phils and the M’s–have turned some heads and seem to be putting things together nicely. Michael Tucker jacked one for the game winner yesterday, Flash Gordon is returning to form and we just picked up the Crime Dawg! It’s exciting for us Cub fans…
it realy doesn’t realy matter what team anyone roots for because the YANKEES WILL WIN IT ALL AGAIN. peace
I’m a huge Looooooong time N.Y. METS Fan…So I hope our 2
guy’s can hepl your Phils out**??? Wait, what’s that I hear
Ventura swings; and it’s a long fly ball, deeeep to right, waaayyy back,
going…going…going…gone good bye; Robin Ventura wins the game
with a Long Home Run in the bottom of the 9th to beat Turk Wendell
and the Philadelphia Phillies 4 to 3 !!!..OOPS SORRY…I really, really
hope you guys beat the Braves out and win the pennant ‘cause the
Mets are goin’ NOWHERE, fast!..(Joey Z.)
Being born and raised in Chicago and seeing the Cubs lose year after year, it would be one of the best things to happen to baseball if they went all the way this year. They just scored “CrimeDogg” Fred McGriff, to compliment Sammy Sosa. The city and the whole midwest would go crazy if they go to the World Series. I live in Tampa now, and no one supports the Devil Rays. Of course being the worst team in the majors doesn’t help. But the D-rays are only 4yrs old. Look how long the Cubbies have been mediocre! The playoffs will be good. Hopefully someone will knock the Yankees out. Sick of New York dominating baseball. The Mets are a game or two out of last place and are on Fox’s game of the week damn near every week. That’s bullshit. No other team with a record like the Mets makes it on network telecasts. It’s all about markets and money.
I am a long time Seattle fan who suffered through the lean times with players like Richie Zisk and Bill Caudill (sp?) and seeing games in the Kingdome. I live in Cali now but I still root for my M’s. They do need an extra bat, though it looks like Al Martin is doing his best to keep the left field job. Pitching seems solid, with plenty of more arms in Tacoma (Triple A).
I think we are headed for another Yankees/M’s ALCS. Revenge will be sweet!!!
To all you Bleacher bums of the friendly confines(Timbo u lucky dog)…I am jealous…I’d love to get to see a day game at Wrigley. he cubs are puttin it together, Mcgriff accepting ws huge. Plus Lieber and Wood in the rotation. Stairs has protection now…could be a very dangerous Chicago team now. Joey Z…thats low man, haha j/k…I got a phone call in the bot. of the 9th and missed Ventura’s shot. Wendell better get his stuff together. I think the Mets abused him last year, same with Cook. I’m afraid they aren’t gonna have much left. On a happier note went to see the local AAA team play tonight, the Scranton Wilkes Barre Red Barons(Phillies farm sysytem) They put a pounding on Indianapoli 15-2 and moved one game ahead in the wild card race . If the playoffs were today they’d be in…Man could it be the lowly Philly orginization is gettin it together? For now , i’m out later bros, Mike
