Yeah, I wouldn’t want to pick a fight with Q. Guy looks a lot more built in real life than he does on T.V.
Punk move to go to the mound when it was an unintentional hit by pitch, and when the pitcher might be 160lbs soaking wet. Watch out, we have a badass on the padres.
Yeah, it was a blatant over-reaction. As a bunch of commentators pointed out, Q is one of the most HBP per AB hitters of all time because he never moves an inch out of the way.
Maybe, except that Q wasn’t crowding the plate as some have suggested, he did turn, and initially, he didn’t charge. And this was the third time Greinke “accidentally” hit him. First time, write it off as unintentional. Second time, you get the stare or maybe a “wft man”. Third time, well, you see what happens. Not that he should have charged him, but I can certainly understand why he did.

Jered weaver broken arm.

There’s literally no one left to pitch for them lol

Re: Greinke/Quentin - can u guys further spell out the ‘unwritten rules/etiquette’ of the game?

I know that Quentin got plunked in his next AB.

But given Greinke’s (serious) injury, does it end there? Or will there be carry-over into the next LA-SD series?

He’s getting drilled again, and benches will clear again.

He might, but it won’t be next series they play on Monday. Something tells me the commish might suspend him for 3 or 4 games and it will be during that series. If not, then I just think the Dodgers will wait a little bit before they retaliate. The umpires are going to be extra cautious this upcoming series. Also, Quentin will not charge because it won’t be Greinke doing it.

Oh, there will be retribution. Quentin already had the reputation around the league as a bitch. He hammers pitches out over the plate, stands right in top of it, and then throws a shit fit every time he gets drilled. Never mind that his ability and his stance in the box mandates that he get pitched inside regularly. As a former pitcher, I fucking hated guys like Quentin.

So there’s about 12 pitchers on the Dodgers right now who can’t wait for a legitimate opportunity to drill a guy they all secretly want to drill every time he comes up anyways, given what a bitch he is. Probably Raj’s favorite player in the NL.

On a related note, Bruce Bochy halfway waded into the fray when he commented that he didn’t think the Dodgers would rally around the injury the way the Giants seemed to rally around the loss of Melky Cabrera last year.

Vogelsong had an incident with Quentin last year when he almost charged Quentin after he didn’t take too kindly to getting drilled by Vogelsong. Vogelsong’s comments at the time were pretty much identical to what I wrote in the first paragraph.

I’d like to see Quentin charge the mound against a guy like Madison Bumgarner. I really, really hope it’s Billingsley who drills that punk fraud the next time they square off.

I never why they went after a big bat like Hamilton in the offseason when they had a bigger need in their pitching staff.

Raj - Zito was so bad, for so long, his past 10-12 starts are statistically impossible without him having made significant adjustment to make him an effective pitcher again. I’m not saying he’ll be winning any more Cy awards, but he’s a good pitcher again and it’s something I don’t think anyone saw coming.
Ubaldo Jimenez was elite for half a season+ and now has all but fallen off the table since then.

Zito could have made some changes that will lead to some improvement - maybe from shitbag to serviceable #5. That I can believe.

But that’s about where I’d cap it.
Jimenez fell off the map because he didn’t make any adjustments. Zito didn’t successfully make them for a long time. Some guys figure out how to make them quickly, others take a long time, still others don’t make them at all.

I laugh at “serviceable #5”. Is that what you call a guy who was a major catalyst on the World Series Champion team? You know nothing about pitching, Raj. You just stick to your numbers and your radar gun readings and try to extrapolate whatever you can from them.

Ubaldo jimenez is fucking TURRIBLE. He has the worst hitch in his throwing motion i’ve seen in a long time, and gets rocked 90% of his starts. Everything i’ve read about him suggests he’s unwilling, or unable to make the adjustments needed to be successful. Cant wait to get him off our roster.

Those other times Greinke hit him were in 08 and 09. So 4 years later… This was an accident, no quotes needed; Greinke isn’t throwing at the dude on 3-2 in a 1 run game.

It probably was. Who knows if the other two times were accidents though. Still an amusing brawl.

Looks like Reyes hurt his ankle pretty bad on a bad slide into second on an attempted steal.

Left on the little tractor thing and was crying.

Shitty.

Lets hope it’s only a month and not 3.

The bright side: he’ll still play at least half the season barring another injury.

I really hope so.

Offence finally starting to come alive and this happens…

The replay looks really really bad to me. It twisted at least 45 degrees past the point it should be able to go.

Well the news is in: he’s gone until the Allstate break. I still think they’ll be fine, team is still loaded with talent.

Just sucks, the guy is unfucking believable. I only had a chance to watch him for a couple of weeks and it was amazing.

But hey, come July, expect a 2nd half surge

Yeah that ankle sprain looked pretty painful. Surprised he didn’t tear anything.

If the Phillies are having this much trouble beating up on the Marlins, they’re in for a long season.
