im really stuck on this one
my pecks,(and a few other muscle groups)
are still absolutly killing me,
and tomorrow im shedualed to work them
which is the worst evil?
missing the workout, or straining them when they still hurt?
straining them will deff be the worst of the two evils. If you break it down more you’ll just over train you know? Deff. need time to heal just work hard on the next workout for chest. you got it
If they’re killing you don’t train them. If they’re mildly sore get in the gym. Somewhere in the middle of those two extremes is a cutoff point…just gotta feel it out.
It all depends. Why are you sore after this last workout - new exercises, crappy diet etc? If you train, do you think you’ll recover by next workout? Do you have to be able to function soon (work, compete etc)? How have your past workouts been going? On one hand, training through soreness really lets your body know it better adapt. On the other hand, you might get hurt, or your body might put resources into endurance vs muscle size or strength. All things to think about.
But if you can’t move, you should skip the workout or better yet, do an extremely light workout.
Like its been said, listen to your body.
If its ‘pain’ then rest it. If its ‘slight’ soreness then go in warm, up and do some light stuff to see how it feels. If its still good, go for it, but always listen to your body.
I’ve had a few really ‘ruff’ workouts where even with stretching each day and exercise i’m still sore 3-4 days later. But i’ve learned its a soreness not a pain, so i go in and keep going. Usually it goes away after a few more days of keeping it going.
