x2 on the Butterfly Effect. Makes you wonder about how life would play out given different circumstances.
Japanese horror movies.

I have that one.
Cross thread post.
The jasons and the nightmare on elm streets.
The original “LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT” that is the strangest worst movie I have ever seen.

Not really man. Just some balance maybe? Somewhere in between?

I’m just busting your chops, I know those type of films aren’t to everyone’s taste. The remake of Solaris is probably more accessible, and I thought it was quite good, although I do prefer the original.

You mean the Wes Craven one or The Virgin Spring?

Wes Craven. That man must have been High as hell making that movie. The music right after the violent rape scene when they all got in the car was something like “sunshine and lolipops and we just raped 2 girls and flowers and rainbows and kitten tails” well not really but trust me its a trip.
Toy Story
I never looked at those toys the same way again.
always watchin me…

My list to watch:
Primer
Stalker
Being John Malkovich
Videodrome
Old Boys
Any movies you guys have seen that are in this category?[/quote]
Primer is the ultimate in mindfuckery. It’s a must see just to experience confusion and entertainment in equal measure. I can only describe it as the equivalent of watching a porno in Kindergarden. You don’t get it, but it stirs something within.
fracture and law abiding citizen
Waking Life
oldboy.
timecrimes.
Jacob’s Ladder scares the shit out of me every time I watch it. It’s almost the “perfect” horror film in my opinion. They just don’t make movies like that anymore.
Primer sucked. It just really fucking sucked. I’ll give it credit where credit is due: it’s definitely a movie that makes you think about time travel and all that shit. But the major problem is that the movie started out really great, but about halfway in it starts to fragment; you start getting all these scenes that make no sense at all.
Then you get a really piss poor explanation that further confuses things because it explains shit in the movie that you never saw! The only reason that people like to say that they liked this movie is because it probably makes them feel like they are smarter than people that didn’t “get it” - when there’s really nothing “to get”.
Reading people’s explanations about the movie won’t help because everyone has their own explanation of the movie (that’s how you know that people that like this movie are full of shit). Even the director, who also wrote and starred in the movie, won’t give a satisfying breakdown of the film; probably because he thinks it makes him look smarter than everyone else. Yuck. Primer straight up sucked.
I watched ‘The Pledge’ last night, starring Jack Nicholson, and while it isn’t a mindfuck - it’s a totally unexpected ending that leaves you stunned and scratching your head at the same time. Fucking great movie though with some stellar acting and a scene with Mickey Rourke that will floor you.
‘Taxidermia’ is a really fucking weird movie. It’s just WEIRD as shit. I had a “WTF” look on my face the whole time. Definitely check that one out.
‘Nightmare’ is another movie that will confuse the shit out of you. This film student wakes up one night after partying with a video of him and his girlfriend killing some people. The rest of the movie is of them trying to figure out what happened. You get the feeling that there really is no point to this movie, and it feels like it was made by a bunch of film school rejects that wanted to make a really confusing movie about, well, film school rejects. I wouldn’t recommend it, but if you want a movie that will confuse the hell out of you - it’s a good one to check out.
The sickest movie I have seen yet is ‘Aftermath’. Honestly, I LOVED this movie. It’s only like a half hour long, but it’s just sick. It’s basically about what happens in a morgue after an autopsy is conducted. NOT FOR THE SQUEAMISH, some sick shit abounds in the movie but I think it’s terrific. Maybe not the mindfuck you’re looking for, but it should make you queasy.
This movie isn’t really a mindfuck in the same sense of the term that most of these movies mentioned are, but I thought The Truman Show was kind of a mindfuck-type movie.
