Mind F Movies

Those are all great, but as far as really fucking with your mind, “The Game” is the best, IMHO.
The Game ROCKS.

Revolver (not entirely mind fuck, but in that general category)

Vanilla Sky

Sympathy for Lady Vengeance(A little bit at times)

Any anime/movie made by Japanese director Satoshi Kon
Perfect Blue
Millennium Actress
Tokyo Godfathers
Paranoia Agent
Paprika

Tokyo Godfathers was kind straight forward IMO. Perfect Blue was definitely a mind fuck though.

Most of the movie was light hearted and about the main characters coming to terms with their pasts but the end with the hospital and the mother is a mind screw a little if not a mind fuck.

x2 on most mentioned, I’ll just try to add ones.

Butterfly effect
Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind
The fountain ← I still haven’t figured out that movie
The jacket
Altered states

2001 space odessy makes sense if your read the book, the movie leaves out too much

The mothman prophesies is probably the movie that screws with my head the most.

The ring

“Why did you help her?”

Inception.

SPOILER

fuck open ended endings

Donnie Darko is the bomb-diggity… I still need to watch ‘The Machinist’ - is it any good?

Been a while since I’ve seen it. I’d call it mostly a character movie.

I didn’t think anyone else had seen this huge pile of crap.

Stalker is a great film, and certainly the most difficult out of all of the ones mentioned. Solyaris is another Tarkovsky sci-fi film which I would add to your list.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I can’t deal with Russian Sci Fi. Waaaaaay too boring and talky
Your ideal movie presumably involves characters communicating in grunts punctuated by explosions?

Yes. It’s definitely a mind fuck kind of movie in a brutally harsh kind of way. I recommend it.

Not really man. Just some balance maybe? Somewhere in between?

I have. And I agree with your assessment of it

Beauty and the beast? Walkin, talkin furniture and beastiality?

Oh, and let’s not forget The Empire Strikes Back. Finding out Vader is Luke’s father was a fairly dramatic twist. I remember waiting in line to see a movie (I think it was the midnight showing of 300 on Thursday) and talking with some guy who saw the original trilogy in theaters. Finding out that Luke was Vader’s son just blew his mind, and after he got out of the theater him and his buddies drove around the theater’s parking lot and shouted it out the windows.

Pandorum
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus(less mindfuck than mindfucked, really)
American Psycho
The NeverEnding Story (no bullshit)
The Shining
The Mist(talky but worth it)
Matchstick Men
The Uninvited (good eye candy)
Moon

Some more understated than others…

Dammit thats the movie thats been going thru my head. The part where the dragon shows up and is almost raping that girl on the dance floor…wow. Tripppyyyyy

edit: THAT then roll a joint and watch the Doors.
Speaking of watching movies baked; a few of the scenes in the Cheech and Chong series can get pretty scary and fuck with your head a bit.

I see dead people…

The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus

I’m surprised no one has said this yet. It is the movie Heath Ledger was filming right before he died. They had to get Colin Farrell, Johnny Depp, and Jude Law to play his character for different scenes the Ledger never got to film when he passed. The movie is filled with crazy special effects that make you feel like you just ate a bag of shrooms

EDIT: sorry Vicomte lol
