Might Accutane be the Cause of my SHBG?

Hi guys,

I was just wondering; can accutane be the cause of my high shbg?. Ive been taking it in my twenties. Unfortunately I had not tested my shbg until my fourties so I cannot tell how that drug impacted in my liver. Have you heard any relationship regarding this?

Cheers

There is no connection to accutane and high SHBG, high SHBG has many causes such as aging and starvation or cutting to look more lean. Also the body in response to low testosterone will increase SHBG to scavenge hormones on the decline.

Yes, it negatively impacts hormone levels. Your body is making a futile attempt to preserve its testosterone amidst the pituitary inhibition. I would switch to Vitamin A instead as Isotretinoin is derived from Vit. A (Retinol/Retinoic acid). You can test your Serum Vitamin A to adjust dosing; It is likely to be better for you with less side effects. However, be mindful on the dose because it will likewise inhibit the pituitary in high doses as well. I recommend 50,000IU daily x1 month and assess for side effects. You can continue indefinitely as long as you don’t have negative side effects.

Maybe, it’s well known Accutane effects libido negatively.
