Is this a good midnight snack?
1 can of tuna fish,
protein shake(AP vanilla mmm) ,
1 cup of cottage cheese
Looks good to me. I do almost the same thing at night, but I usually stick to Advanced Protein, maybe some cottage cheese, and then add some sort of good fat like flax or a handful of fish oil caps. As long as the carbs are kept pretty low, this is a great late night snack.
looks good to me Steve except for the Tuna. Who wants to smell fish all night and maybe have the cat trying to make out with you?
Man,looks like I made a mistake of taking quite an amount of carbs before bed…I’ll change. Thanks Chris.
damn i get hungry looking at that meal. That’s a great meal b4 bed time. I eat my 6oz. can tuna with 1/2 of a squeezed lemon. I don’t get any fishy breath or smell. I solved my night time protein problems by taking in 90 grams of Caseinate b4 bed.
90 grams…holy f*#@!!!
cottage cheese over here. i keep extra on hand just for this purpose. kevo
How much protein is wasted from the body in the night? How much should we take in then?
So far so good. I have not experienced any gastro intestinal problems, Thank the Lord. I’ll see how long it can last. My goal is to gain as much mass as possible. I now know that the past 3 years my diet was very insufficient. I only put on 25 pounds in 2.5 years. I figure 90 grams protein is good enough to sustain me through the 6-8 hours of sleep. Think about it, that is a lot of time without food. I never had that much b4 bedtime. That will be a huge x-factor. I also wake up and have an 86 gram whey isolate/hydrosylate mix protein shake. During work I have a 127 gram shake of whey isolate/hydrosylate and caseinate mix. Thats over 300 grams without my solid meal at 6pm. During workout days I get another 87 grams combined during workout and post-workout shakes. I want to get a minimum of 2 grams per pound. I’m 195lbs. now Goal is to hit 215-220 by spring. laters pk
4 whole fried chickens and a coke.
A large meatlovers pizza, like I just ordered from good ol’ Pizza Hut. Gotta love cheat days. I’m heading out tonight to a dinner dance with a lovely girl who thought a T-Man would look good by her side. The rewards…
While I will never disagree with a meal shortly before bedtime, there’s something I want to clear up.
Respiratory Quotient (RQ) is something I brought up on another thread. It’s the voume of CO2 exhaled divided by the volume of O2 inhaled. This RQ establishes your fuel cost at rest and in exercise. The lower the level of activity, the lower the RQ and the more fat that is being used as fuel.
When sleeping, your RQ is like .6 or .7. At this value your body is burning 100% fat or FFA as fuel. Now if you are to eat before bedtime, aren’t you shifting your body away from burning all this FFA to CHO?
If this were true (and I find it is in practise), does it not make sense that when Fat loss is a goal, you should sleep on an empty stomach and use a glutamine peptide product to preserve muscle and ZMA for endocrine function? The Combination of the two will also raise your immune system and increase IGF-1. What do y’all think?
Sorry forgot to sign off on that last thread. it was from me. Peace.
